Re: Moving Up Through uNL in 2010

I've 3b/folded AK before albeit verrrry rarely. there are players that will call 3bets with all sorts of dominated hands yet only 4bet KK+.

Oh and all you have to do at 25NL and 50NL is bet three streets with your value hands and stack fish with AJ vs. A4 on AK7r boards.

That 2007 flashback was pretty fun. But seriously I think 8bb would be top 1% of 25nl or 50nl maybe higher. Its not as easy as it once was.
So this makes me top 1-2%?

I know there are several people that have sustained a higher WR than this, as well as people like Mdorand who I guess would be the best 25NL "reg" has sustained over 10bb/100 over 200K+ hands, and LML also sustained 10bb/100 over 100K+ hands

are you talking ptbb or regular bb? 8pt is sick... 8bb is not that special (4pt is still definitely top 1% of uNL though)

While this may be true, and if we're talking about 25NL, then I'd argue 99% of the population is retarded, which again means that being top 1% isn't really that special.

On a completely unrelated note ... my redline is negative ... any obvious suggestions?

when there is a draw on the flop just assume they are drawing and keep barreling. if that draw hits, rep that draw and keep betting.

Re: Moving Up Through uNL in 2010

I was struggling with my red-line at NL5 (Yes, I'm trying to follow in your footsteps through uNL). To fix it I:
- Tightened up pre-flop
- Tightened up a lot OOP pre-flop
- C-bet less and on dry boards c-bet smaller
- Fired more 2nd barrels
- Value-bet river thinner
- Started calling river bets when I know villain has it ()

Generally just figuring that playing a stronger range means I have to fold less often.

Hey verneer, i see you've stated your redline is declining or w.e
-mine was 45 degree angle downwards..but in the last 3500 hands its + which ive done by value betting more when its clear to do so, and not limping as much pf really the 2 biggest problems with my game. And also, mixing in some aggression against "bully" types really puts the pressure on them and they have been folding if you show them who's boss

That's not necessarily a bad thing at uNL imo as you should be making the majority of your money at showdown. Hard to have a positive red line when people don't fold.

200K hands still isn't enough to accurately measure win rate. You generally need at least 1 million hands before it becomes at all accurate.

However, with 10bb/100 hands over 200k hands you are pretty close to knowing for certain that you are beating your limit.

Anyone who is beating 25nl for 6-8 bb/100 will not be at that level long enough to play that many hands.

This is some legitimately good advice, but I has hoping someone would say "start by not 3-bet/folding KK PF"
