There will be a lot of countries with 0 medals but def no group of 8 without any in a random draw.

It's so if someone happens to luck out and draws both China and USA the competition isn't over. If you draw terrible countries you still have something to sweat and cheer for (or in this case, against). Tiebreakers were discussed in the old thread but I don't remember what they were and they should probably be posted here. Also for those of us who are lazy, it'd be cool if the dates for the novelty events were posted.

Just thought of something else...Although we're drawing from a pool of 216 countries, it appears only 204 countries are actually going to participate this year. Should the pool be reduced to 25 entrants? Or is drawing a country that is not participating just part of the luck of the draw and you have to suck it up. I don't care either way, just thought it should be brought up incase of the extremely unlikely chance where someone draws like 5 or more countries that aren't even participating.

Men's Football - July 26th - August 11th (note: Starts before the official opening of the olympics)
Men's Tennis - July 28th - August 5th
Women's sailing (Laser Radial) - July 30th - August 6th

Probably 25 participants then if fewer countries than what we thought, or?

I guess if there is a tie for most medals, the one with the most total golds wins? Same for least medals combined? and if most medals with <10M population ties then maybe the one with smaller total population wins?
