Playing Bovada, so annonymous players... UTG just recently joined the table. His only action was a an uncontested preflop raise.

I think the preflop play is pretty standard. Good cards, good position, Only 6 handed as a couple guys were sitting out. So I raise. Only get the limper.

I think the flop is also pretty standard. In position, hit the flop. Make a standard C-Bet. 2/3 the pot and get called.

The turn donk is where this got interesting to me. The action says 8, but the size most certainly doesn't. I figured villain for taking a stab and would expect him to check/fold most rivers as I don't think this looks like an 8. Therefore I make the call pretty confident I have the best hand right now and he will check most rivers. I intend to check behind as I don't think there are many worse callable holding for villain.

On the river he pots it... This was the most interesting move. This screamed more of an 8 to me, but didn't make sense with the turn bet. I also thought JT that hit a gut shot, but I wouldn't expect the flop call and donk bet out of a gut shot and 2 unders... Basically I feel like his range is Air or an 8... and I was struggling to justify villains actions with an 8.

Should I be making this type of call?

call the river bet and take a note as to what he has.

Also, you can make it a bit bigger preflop. maybe like ~$.20.

Raise turn, there is a lot of value to get yet + you regain the iniciative + I bet is easier to figure out if the guy has the 8.

Worst case scenario is this guy back raising or calling and donking the river again which is pretty strong given your line and you have plenty of 8x hands to defend and play the same way.

Half pot is probably a better size for flop, the board is really dry.

only thing I'm even worried about here is an 8, Q4, Q9. Im calling him based on bet sizing though. He is weak on the flop imo, likely mid-pair, low-pair, air. The turn stinks like, "please don't raise me" from villain, so raise it up instead of flat calling turn. ($0.50-0.75). Flat call the river as played. Flop sizing is fine at 2/3 imo.
