Re: *** April fools low content thread! ***

meh not sure if i agree with that... it's too easy for players to switch sites

but obv i agree that the market structure changes a bit but it might end up being a good thing if PS tries to chase smaller networks out of business by making itself a superior option. idk we'll see

Btw, all this talk of it becoming a monoply is so ridiculous and dumb.

FT is currently out of business, it has 0 customers and therefore 0% market share.

The only way PS will benefit is when ppl who wont play on PS for w/e reason leave whatever site there on now to join FT.

Even then, the only changes to there being a monopoly is when american legislation goes through as PS/FT will be the biggest and ofc if they merge or w/e then it will be a monopoly.

I think everyone worrying about the Market becoming monopolised are jumping to conclusions. Stars have acquired fulltilt sure, but that doesn't mean Stars = FullTilt. Obviously we've no idea what's gonna happen at this stage but it would seem logical to me that the best way for Stars to make a return on that investment is to have FT run in direct competition as it did in the past

But how much better would it have been if another company had bought FT?

Some random unknown business that has enough money to buy it.

If PS has bought FTP, that is what you would call a monopoly. I don't understand how you can think otherwise.

PS + FTP combined will easily have 80+% of the player pool for online poker

For instance this claim...

You're telling me because FT has 0% market share right now, that once PS buys it out and FT opens doors again, it will still hold 0% of the market share?

I'm just saying, PS is practically a monopoly now, sure the FT player pool might push it over into whatever is considered the technical figure.

its really not going to make a big difference to the market shares as they stand now as people are suggesting.

Btw, re-read my post, i did actually say it will become a monopoly...

Overall i couldn't think of anyone better to have control and run the new FT.

i kinda disagree, i think its already a monopoly, stars has 200k+ people online now, name a site which has anywhere near that traffic now, i dont think theres another site online now with even 25k players online?

Re: *** April fools low content thread! ***

I can think of 100000000 companies better to run the new FT poker, all of which would be in competition with pokerstars.

For someone who plans to go to LSE (correct?), I want to hear your reasons why.

Is it good for poker longterm? Maybe. Is it good for poker shortterm? Yes.
I do actually think it's good in the longterm in terms of number of people playing poker. The bigger something gets, the more trustworthy and reliable that site becomes in the general public eyes. It's not longer that shady gambling site. On the other hand, without competition, the deals aren't going to get better, that's the negative side.
