AK - NL25

Zoom on mac so HUD not visible and no notes on players.

What's the best way to play this pre flop? The way the action went, I felt like UTG+1 had to be pretty strong but folding wasn't an option imo.

OTF I feel I played it probably as bad as I could have lol

PokerStars - $0.25 NL (6 max) ZOOM - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

BTN: $40.17
SB: $48.85
Hero (BB): $31.87
UTG: $30.02

SB posts SB $0.10, Hero posts BB $0.25

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero has K A

UTG raises to $0.80, MP raises to $2.50, fold, fold, fold, Hero calls $2.25, UTG calls $1.70

Flop: ($7.60, 3 players) 2 A 8
Hero checks, UTG checks, MP bets $4.25, Hero raises to $29.37 and is all-in,

Pre is fine readless, 4 betting is also ok and looks super strong, call otf, you are never called by worse, not even a fd

Re: AK - NL25

I don't like flatting pre. Being OOP sucks, as this hand indicates. First of all, it's nearly impossible to play for stacks when you are ahead. But you can easily lose a huge pot when you are behind. If this was c/o and btn betting, then I would like to get involved.

on flop, you have just turned your hand into a bluff. The best hand he could have for you is AQ, and he now folds it when you shove. If he had an underpair, he also folds that. Just call behind and c/call the turn too. If he had an underpair, then he will also check the turn, and you might be able to lead out small on the river and get some more money from him.

Here, as Chiego pointed out in only the way he can do so, you just made the worst possible play.

Is it really a fold? I have no reads but I assumed the 3bet pre was strong as it was UTG vs UTG+1 but we still have good equity against a no bluff range.

(Equity, Win, Tie)
Player 1: 42.80% 27.76% 30.09% [AhKh]
Player 2: 57.20% 42.15% 30.09% {JJ+, AKs, AKo}

Throw in a few bluffs and we gain more

(Equity, Win, Tie)
Player 1: 49.81% 38.02% 23.59% [AhKh]
Player 2: 50.19% 38.39% 23.59% {JJ+, AKs, A8s-A6s, AKo}

Flop shove is obviously retarded looking back

Re: AK - NL25

Yes you might have 40-50% equity but ur gonna be OOP and you might fold the best hand alot, it's just not an amazing situation to be in.

So you're saying best-case scenario, you're still behind equity-wise, OOP (both absolute and relative) with a super-duper-just-massively-lol-faceup hand.
