Disclaimer: I know I played this hand a bit **** on the turn, also I did a major brain fart on the flop by completing missing that BB was in the hand, probably doesn't change my flop cbet but seeing BB fold flop when I thought I was HU mashed my already slight baby brain.

So my 'logic' on the turn, was "xc my pair+NFD to get value from villain's floats" which is a little ******ed I think seeing as villain has far less floats when I cbet mway as opposed to HU. Generally though I'd be barrelling on this turn everytime.

Villain (1.4k):
27/17, 6.5% 3bet
WTSD 30,
WWSF 43,
AFq 34% (flop 36%, turn 33%, river 30%) NB - villains cbet stats are 81%, 78%, 91%, which I interpret as "villain barrels a ****load as the PFRer, which would bump up his AFq stats ie. villain is more passive as the preflop caller" fvcbet flop 54%

Okay here's why I called:
1. villain doesn't have Kx, because he checked back turn, and I think Kx bets smaller on this river to get calls from something.
2. villain doesn't have a flush, again because he checked back turn (not as reliable against this guy as against say an aggro reg), plus if he has a flush, he's got to be worried that I look weak as **** and won't call him.
3. Qx seems unlikely for villain: he can't have flopped a Q high FD or BDFD so his Qx hands are pretty damn narrow to some random AQo hands, I don't think he's continuing with QJo hands give my mway flop cbet.

Sum it all up and I figured villain was full of ****.

I'm tight but why open A5s from MP w same aggressive regs behind ? At micro I prefer open w a solid range there're no reasons for open w this kind of hand

As played , why you cbet the flop? For bluff or fold value?
CO call the cbet w one guy behind him, he looks strong

you are Sure that he bets the king on the turn? You look weak, he could decide to ch back and valuebet river...

turn play is fine. as played fold really quickly. he can have KQ, KK, QQ pretty easily. unless you have some reads on how he can turn hands like 88 into a bluff pretty sure this call is bad.

you most likely won this hand though since that's why you're posting so if he showed up with a bluff then nh, i still think its a -EV call

What's up Ikki Bukki,

I also fold this PF.

As played, I think you're logic behind hero calling is solid. He probably has something like 77 and figures he can't win a SD but you can't call such a big bet based on checking turn and river.

I open A2-A5s and A10-AKs in MP, it's not that loose

river is interesting, i think call could be ok, dont think flush does this, K/Q either. Kinda seems like high variance though, I probably think about calling and fold.

I'm sure I'd fold also, even though Villain's play looks very bluffy to me. But I def don't think we are ever chopping. If Villain has A-high he is checking back. Either has a boat or he is trying to push us off of our A-high hands.

I'd rather open all the AXs in UTG/MP than the SPPs: blockers vs getting 3bet, and blockers against a range that's happy to 3bet/continue. Also plays better if we 4bet and get called than SPP ever do. At least we have options against a 3bet with AXs, with SPP we usually have one good move against a 3bet which is folding.

AXs also plays a ****load better postflop than SPP do when we don't flop the nuts.

At a table full of aggro regs, I'm dropping 22-55/66 from my open range before I drop AXs.

folding pre is for lolnits

nice brag hand op
calling is definitely plausible and in fact massively +EV vs a lot of players imo

Why do so many like checking the turn?

I feel like this is a great card to 2 barrel as now we have equity even against a K, but with the KK and Q now a 2 barrel could have FE vs some mid to low pp's that peeled the flop but now could fold to pressure.

Checking the turn with villain checking behind I don't feel changes much since if you're giving up then any Kx hand could check behind to possibly induce on the river, while those pp's could check behind for pot control.

Then when we check the river yeah if he had a pp he's counterfeited but we've gone with such a standard "I cbet, whoops got called, I'm ready to c/f" that he could potentially be doing this as a bluff, or maybe he does have the K and is looking to value own us. Personally this looks like a bluff spot to me since we've acted so weak throughout that he can't really expect to be called right? But then I could be leveling myself, depending on how ABC the guy is.

*Edit*
For some reason thought it was a pot-sized bet on river, 2x pot in my experience is a strong hand looking for a call

Villain is almost never doing this with Ax, why would he? Ax can xb river and win often, hero looks weak and basically never has a flush/Kx, Qx from hero makes sense though.

Whats Vil F to flopCB? The hand looks so FOS, but I think V could have a weirdly played AhJh(less likely) or AhQx.

Villains fvcbet flop is 54%.

I'm surprised not everyone is opening A2s+, sure it can be tricky to play post flop sometimes, but I still strongly believe it's a +EV open. For a while I swayed between opening and not opening A2s-A8s UTG/EP, I've seen enough recent coaching videos that I'm happy to auto open these hands. I guess I've gotten better at poker too cause I'm pretty comfortable seeing a flop with these hands.

As for turn, this card is one of my best barrel cards: gives me NFD, is scary vs villains 5x/22-44/66-JJ. I'm absolutely barreling this card without a great reason not to, and if I'm not going to barrel this turn card then I may as well not open small AXs preflop. Something I like about AXs is being able to barrel on turn cards that actually give me equity rather than just stone bluffing.

I'm not worried about villain having KK or QQ, there's one combo of each and villain will 3bet them sometimes preflop. So let's say there's 0.5 combos of each, which I think is generous. Plus the overbet I think is FOS.

Btw this isn't a brag thread, guess I should've not shown that I called river cause it seems to have biased some opinions towards this being a brag thread.

I'll post results when I feel the conversation has died so the thread can run it's natural course.

this may have sounded a bit too exaggerated, what I meant is that some (bad) players (mostly fish, some worse regs as well) won't really ever 2x pot the river without a bluff. It's a pretty disjointed line when villain checks back the turn, as he shouldn't have a lot of Kx otr, and we can make this call imo vs certain players

I've got no problems starting tables with other regs provided those regs sit opposite me, simple courtesy really. I do the same for other regs... unless they're regs that don't sit opposite me on my tables!
