50NL Help

Just had an interesting hand, not sure if I made the right decision, so I decided to ask here.

4 Handed
Hero (BTN) - $20
Villian (UTG) - $40
SB - $30
BB - $50

Preflop: Hero is BTN with KK
UTG calls $0.50, Hero raises to $1.25, SB calls $0.75, BB calls $0.75, Villain calls $0.75

Flop: ($5.00) Q47
SB checks, BB checks, Villain checks, Hero bets $2.00, SB folds, BB folds, Villain calls $2.00

Turn: ($9.00) 5
Villain checks, Hero bets $4.00, Villian raises to $15, Hero ???

Re: 50NL Help

your sizing is way too small on every street

buy in full unless it's CAP table

Yeah I realized that, it was at a home game and didn't have much left on me.

Re: 50NL Help

1.50 preflop.

Pot is then 6. Bet 4-5 on flop. Turn we can then profitably shove.

Bet sizing mistakes means villains range isn't that easy to configure.

Re: 50NL Help

$2.50 pre flop. Isolated limpers to 5BB, shorter stacked it's not such a huge mistake as you can always get the money in anyway, but you're not looking to offer great odds to encourage a multiway pot even with KK.

Re: 50NL Help

This is a live home game? Heck, I'd even make it $3.00 or $3.50 preflop. If it's anything like the live games I've played, you'll still get callers. And there's no need to be balanced. Obviously, against thinking players, this would be bad, but judging by the limp, the stack sizes, and the family pot, you're probably not against thinking players.

As played, make it $4.50 on the flop so you can shove for about pot on the turn.

Re: 50NL Help

LOL home games are so bad. Once you get to turn like this, I think this is not a bluff and you have to sick-fold. Literally all sets, two pairs and straights are possible in the home game. Yes, villains will call Q5 pre, and will call the flop with a gutshot, especially when your bets are so tiny.

As everyone else said, this hand becomes so easy if you just raise more pre and on the flop.

Re: 50NL Help

raise to 5x pre
.5 PSB on flop is correct cuz board is dry but you can get away with bigger.
as played, fold turn.
