We can't just look at the river in isolation, we have to consider his play on each street.

I bet 3/4 pot on river and snap call the shove. The only hand beating you that is remotely logical is A4s.

Without any information on how the other limpers react to PF raises/cbets, I also over-limp pre. I think we end up playing a bloated pot with ****ty equity too often if we raise it up.

Re: 50NL - badly played trips?

You didn't mention, what's your stats so far? What's your image, and how does villain perceive you?

You limped in OTB pre, and then led out after everyone checked to you into a paired board. If I was villain I might not be giving you much credit, especially not for the 4 (which is why leading out there is the right play imo!)

He could be repping a 4, his line is how I would have played it if I thought you had either nothing or a weak A and I wanted to bluff you off. Alternately his line is how many players do play their trips. Does he have a history of slowplaying/checkraising/overall trickiness?

I can only see a few logical hands he's playing, Ax(2-9), 22-77, 34/45, or complete air. Of those, I think more often your either chopping another 4 or are ahead. If he flopped it with A4o or if he called you down thin with 77 and hit it's just not your day.

Re: 50NL - badly played trips?

Thanks for all the replies everyone, it seems there is an even split between those advocating a call and those advocating a fold. But my preference is for a call, and I think the analysis laid out here backs it up.

Apologies for not posting my own stats/image etc. I just figured out in PT how to get my specific stats for that table only, and I was running at 22/18/2.5. Had 150 hands on villain, neither of us getting much out of line far as I remember it. There's no particular history going on so it's best to just see the hand 'as is'.

Incidentally, I did indeed end up calling. Villain showed 35hh.
