50nl 3bet pot facing river bet

Villain is unknown, had just sat down recenly (not more than 5 hands for sure)

Merge - $0.50 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 3 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

SB: $50.00
BB: $62.75
Hero (BTN): $112.15

SB posts SB $0.25, BB posts BB $0.50

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero has 8 7

Hero raises to $1.50, fold, BB raises to $3.50, Hero calls $2.00

Flop: ($7.25, 2 players) 9 T Q
BB bets $5.00, Hero calls $5.00

Turn: ($17.25, 2 players) 7
BB checks, Hero checks

River: ($17.25, 2 players) 3
BB bets $11.00

PF is obviously an auto-open. the 3bet is so small I feel I can profitably call this with position.

flop is ok-ish, can't fold after calling PF imo, and raising isn't that great vs unknown.

Turn he checks, I have showdown value, thought about betting but decided not to.

River he bets, not sure what he would bet, check, bet with. Strange line for sure, he could think i missed straight/flush draws and is betting to take it down. I'm not great with math but I don't have to be right all too often for this call to be profitable.

Fold pre to an unknown

Definitely fold flop, you have so few clean outs

Fold river, he has so few combos that have missed completely on that flop and you have 4th pair

I really think you leveled yourself in your thinking in this hand

Re: 50nl 3bet pot facing river bet

Reason I want to call river is that his river vbetting range is weird.

AQ/KK/AA would bet turn, KJ/QQ/TT/99 have no reason to c/r me on the turn because i'm an unknown. Board is so wet I can't see these hands checking it and risk me checking it back.

JJ wouldn't bet the river after checking turn, Tx/9x has SD so there shouldn't be a reason for him to turn his hand into a bluff. I have an 8 blocker vs 88 in case he turned his hand into a bluff.

So what's left is air and KQ. doubt 33 3bets PF.

What are you hoping for by calling on the flop? I don't get the logic by saying "Well, I called preflop with my crappy hand, and now that I've gotten a crap flop with all kinds of nasty turn cards, I'm going to call again." Alright, you picked up the OESD, but you only want the 6 right? A non heart 6 at that. A Jack kills any action as does a heart. No disrespect here btw.

none taken, you're right, I probably should have folded the flop. I thought of it at the time but felt after calling PF and hitting this flop, with so many hands I can represent I could call flop with intentions of taking it away later.

I was calling for more than to just hit a straight, I could bluff on hearts and Qx turns. But when I hit the 7 and he checked to me, I decided I had some showdown value as I thought he would bet all value hands like I explain in the post before.

The only flush draws villain should have are AKs, AJs, and possibly KJs, but dont see why villain would 3bet KJs as most player would flat that PF.

hmm. his line def looks fishy

what about firing ott like 1/2-2/3s so you can get to showdown on ur terms otr ?

as played i think im folding river coz i would hate to pay off his KQ/QJ or something that he was checking for pot control.

pretty much seems like these going for thin value because your range looks hella weak in this spot

If you think he is kinda fishy then why are you going into so much thinking with this guy? He could show up with anything.

Never should have called the 3bet, especially without a decent read.
