$10NL: J9s bluff river

Villain was unknown but was goldstar + hidden from search

Villain checks back T, diamond draw, straight draw? Worth betting to get him off better high card?

Hero (CO): $10.31
BTN: $16.13
SB: $9.00
BB: $12.89
UTG: $14.60
MP: $3.74

Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero is CO with 9 J
2 folds, Hero raises to $0.30, BTN calls $0.30, 2 folds

Flop: ($0.75) T K 2 (2 players)
Hero bets $0.43, BTN calls $0.43

Turn: ($1.61) 3 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN checks

River: ($1.61) T (2 players)
Hero bets $1.05

Re: $10NL: J9s bluff river

If villain is decent (ie capable of folding hands like 2nd pair or FD), I'm barreling this OOP, partly because a set and TPTK are unlikely. Make it a decent size bet, so a thinking player won't call with a FD with those odds.

Against a not so smart player I'm giving up on turn and hoping for a river miracle if he checks.

i'd prefer it if you didn't have a Jack

still it's probably a reasonable spot

Also, I don't think it's a good bluff. Would you play AK or KQ this way? A set? You're basically repping trips here, which is maybe not so smart. I at least would call you down pretty light here.

That's true but I find generally people don't hand read that much at 10NL and I see alot of bad regs play hands like JJ etc this way.

Yes, but in this case he cant represent JJ or Tx because of the turn check. Every reg but a nobrainer will call with weak sd value.

No as in hands like JJ could be in my perceived range since I see regs at this level check JJ/QQ hands OTT all the time. And I don't think that last sentence is true at all. Besides I'm not trying to get him off pair hands exclusively, i'm trying to get him off A high or Q high type hands that are missed draws but beat me.

So now the definition of decent is being able to fold the best hand?

FWIW, I like this line. 3 barrels is fine too. Betting twice then giving up is bad.

i think i'd give up after the c-bet vs unknown villain who's likely to be fishy. and if im not double barrelling i dont think i'd bet the turn.
