NL50 - Protecting equity vs checking down value? NL50 - Protecting equity vs checking down value?

I just sat down, so no reads.

HJ: 175bb
CO (Hero): 200bb
BTN: 150bb
SB: 150bb
BB: 150bb

Hero has: 66

Preflop:
HJ limps, Hero raises 5bb, BTN folds, SB, folds, BB folds, HJ calls.

(Pot: 11bb)
Flop: A K 7
BB checks, Hero checks.

(Pot: 11bb)
Turn: A
HJ checks, Hero?

Is it okay to bet small here (like 4bb) to fold out hands like QT, T9, etc?
All two overcards to my hand have at least 9 outs and 20% equity, so I'm giving away ~2.2bb in EV to all of those hands by checking behind and even more to hands like QT which also have straight draws.

Does protecting my equity against those types of hands make up for the times I get called by better?

Another benefit of betting here, as I see it, is not having to make a
decision if he bets the river when I check turn.

I think it can be fine long as you have some Stronger holdings in your checking range OTF. Otherwise just bet flop imo. Gotta barrel some rivers too though
