Hero BTN(31.94) Villain SB(43.34)
HJ raise to .50 Hero 7d8d calls SB & BB Call

Flop: ($2.00) 3s7c8s

Checks around to Hero. Hero bets 1.40 Villain C/R (4.50)

I'm thinking Villain is repping a set because AA-TT are raising pf. The check raise makes him seem very strong and his range only has sets / 2 pair / weird combo draw / MAYBE 99 or 66. Since I am blocking 77 & 88 I think I am beating most of his range.

Hero Shoves (30.04) Villain Calls turns over 7s7h
Board bricks and I lose a $65 pot.

Was my Flop raise bad and should I have just called his c/r? With his range I did not want him to see another card because I don't benefit from more cards.
Thanks for any advice!

I think this move from villian in 4ways pot is not balanced move the most times is top range 33,1 combo 77,1 combo 88 and openended flushdraw so you can call and revalueate ott you cant shove 120 bb vs capped range he dont fold the better hands or hands with very good equity eg openended flush and he dont call the bluff hands or hands that are beaten.. if he has ..so call for pot controll only for blufcatch.if he call your shove you are underdog call or fold its ok imo dont shove especially deep..

Don't include results in your posts, it allows for some bias in analyzing the hand.

3bet shoving 100bb more over a flop check/raise readless in a multiway pot doesn't seem like the best option to me. This line is super nutted, villain isn't playing a one pair hand like that. I don't see villain being wider than {88-77,33,87s,JsTs,Js9s,Ts9s} without some reads. You're either chopping, smoked, or flipping a coin. Might be very marginally +EV to call.

Meh I dont think SB range is so strong, there should be bluffs and there should be 1p hands in your betting range.
Top 2 is too strong to fold, call or 3b.

So there was $7.90 in the pot and your reraised all-in to $30.40, roughly 2.5x pot? If I'm reading this correctly you're making a raise that shouldn't get called by any hands you beat and narrows your opponent's calling range to sets, maybe open enders with flush draws. You may have gotten stacked regardless but the all-in seems like a mistake. Results aside I would call the raise and look to get it in on blank turns.

I'm more inclined to 3-bet PF but honestly all the options seem really close to me.

Throwing in my vote for just b/c'ing flop as played. I would think that villain would be less inclined to c/r draws in a 4-way pot because there's not a whole lot we're immediately b/f'ing, and I don't feel great about shoving because his calling range is somewhere between moderately beating us and crushing us.
