PokerStars - $0.05 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: 162.4 BB (VPIP: 29.41, PFR: 29.41, 3Bet Preflop: 16.67, Hands: 17)
SB: 46.2 BB (VPIP: 60.00, PFR: 40.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 5)
Hero (BB): 115.8 BB
UTG: 100 BB (VPIP: 50.00, PFR: 16.67, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 6)
MP: 102.8 BB (VPIP: 0.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: -, Hands: 1)
CO: 130.8 BB (VPIP: 22.73, PFR: 4.55, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 24)

SB posts SB 0.4 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has A J

fold, fold, fold, BTN raises to 2.4 BB, fold, Hero calls 1.4 BB

Flop: (5.2 BB, 2 players) J 5 5
Hero checks, BTN bets 1.6 BB, Hero raises to 5 BB, BTN calls 3.4 BB

Turn: (15.2 BB, 2 players) 2
Hero bets 11 BB, BTN calls 11 BB

River: (37.2 BB, 2 players) 2
Hero bets 18 BB

Not sure if my river bet is too thin and I am quite unsure of the sizing. I think my flop raise is good, happy to hear thoughts on why it sucks though.

Easy 3bet pre for value.

I’d size up otr

I do both with AJo in this spot but I agree that 3betting is probably better all the time in these games.

Why are you sizing up on the river? My sizing definitely went smaller as I was less sure of whether I should be betting or not.

I dont think so. Preflop sims call AJo vs 40-50% rfi range alot more than calling.

3b AJo 100% vs btn would be an exploit, not standard.

meh he will call/raise QQ+/flushes/boats, idk if he has to call with enough Jx to make it a vbet but I think not.

He forgot to check his preflop simzz before replying, rookie mistake.

It's 5nlz he called with KK and I was not surprised and tbf I'm the only dip**** in the pool who ever has worse than a flush here. I'm thinking x/f on the river is the best line because we never get bluffed off better. I guarantee villains don't have a bluffing range here and are never value betting worse (if I check here villain checks back KK basically all the time).

I guess we just didn’t have enough hands on this nit to identify. Some of the stuff these people nitroll and x back with blows my mind. You’re right about the river bluffing range of 5nlz and 10nlz being a big fat 0, I’m making a point of just paying absolutely nothing off and playing 0 pots with these people

It’s 3bet preflop, isn’t?

As played BTN can have any two cards. His range is too wide.

Yea kind of. Obv AJo is way ahead of a typical button range.
I believe that the main reason is, if you always 3bet AJo+, the BTN can start overbetting turns and rivers on A high boards and make your life miserable.

If opponents in real games arent putting pressure on you like this, it probably is fine to always 3 bet.

Thats my interpretation of it anyways.
