5nl: Playing AK way too passive? 5nl: Playing AK way too passive?

I think I played this hand way too passive. I was afraid of AQ on the flop, so decided to check. I guess this is terrible. He could have FD here, SD, Ax, Qx etc, all hands I can get value from. At turn I could bet say half pot, and then at river I should just bet half pot again with my straight, getting value from many two pairs.

If you're not cbetting this flop for value, what are you cbetting? Like you say, you're playing negatively. I do the same too sometimes, but just take a second in the hand to think what his range is to check call you.

You shouldn't play scared...
U need to realize that it is all about ranges and V/ur action.

If V raises ur cbet, u can put V on certain range (and he puts u after ur action).
Don't be scared if some1 raises ur cbets etc... its part of the progress.

Bet/folding flop and/or turn isn't terrible if V is only raising with 2 pair +. There aren't many FD's he can have to bluff x/r otf.

You can't check just because villain might have AQ. Think of his whole range.

If there's one thing I've learned in the past month from posting here, it's that you shouldn't value check hands that can potentially get three streets of value.

Flop's great for our range, we're betting a huge portion of our range on this texture anyway, we'd like to protect against villain's nutted draws, and let's get value while we can before the board scares one of us.

Nice advice, not something I was thinking about
