10nl, CO is a passive TAG-y reg. Doesn't do any weird plays out of the ordinary.

I find myself in the BU with KJo. CO raises to 3x. I 3bet to 9x, mostly trying to realize fold equity and fold to a 4bet (I think he has a very linear 4bet range)

The problem with my play is that I think that while I get the CO to fold his stealing range, I feel like when he does continue, I'm going to have a very hard time realizing equity on most boards. I think that, long run, JKo would be better to just flat and play boards, especially in position. Would KJs be better to utilize as a bluff here?

(Of course there may be flaws in my logic, or total fallacies. Thanks in advance!)

Fold pre vs passive TAG.

It's certainly okay to 3b KJo, but you need to randomize suitd to avoid ovrtbluffing. KJs I'm always 3-betting BTN vs CO. It's not necessarily a bluff, just 3-betting overall is better to avoid squeezes + people don't cold 4b/4b bluff enough, being IP we can realize more equity and make the other player make more mistakes. Picking up 3-4bb uncontested is nice too and denying equity vs say A9o/A10o/SCs

I think that's the key here. The hand you're using against this player type won't put much into the pot when called unless you get the most optimal of circumstances which is kind of hard to realize with KJo.

If you're betting purely to get him to fold I can think of better hands to put into your range for what you're trying to accomplish in terms of post flop play-ability for the times you're called.

id rather 3b KJo BU vs CO than KJs

Thats because KJs has more opportunities to continue on postflop.

Dont see why you are worried about realizing your equity when you play the hand in position as the preflop 3-bettor
