This is probably very basic, I may have a lot of posts but I suck at NL ring and I have almost no experience this deep. Thought I could use some help on this, though. No stats, but SB plays most hands, calls a lot, talks a lot, doesn't raise a lot. He's a big part of why I'm this deep.

Global Poker - $0.04 NL (6-Max) - Holdem - 6 Players
Hand converted manually cause Global.

SB: 256 BB
BB: 78 BB
UTG: 50 BB
Hero (MP): 277 BB
CO: 144 BB
BTN: 98 BB

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has A K

UTG calls, Hero raises to 5 BB, fold, BTN calls 5 BB, SB calls 5BB, fold, UTG calls 4bb.

Flop: (21 BB, 4 players) 5 T K
SB bets 10.5 BB, fold, Hero calls 10.5 BB, fold.

Turn: (42 BB, 2 players) 6
SB bets 21 BB, Hero calls 21 BB.

River: (84 BB, 2 players) A
SB bets 42 BB, Hero calls 42 BB.

Mostly my thought process at the time is wondering if there are enough hands to pay off a fourth bet somewhere compared to how many open me up to a big, annoying fifth. Not sure if I should have just tried to stack him here though.

You lose to {55,TT,KT,K5s,T5s} (36 combo) and you get value from {Kx, Tx, QJ, XXcc} (~150 combo), if you get 3b thats great you have easy fold and lose no extra money than if you were to call down

We beat K5 and T5, lose to JQ. Tx seems unlikely but fish.

Pfp seems to be talking about the flop. Though I'm not convinced we get more money out of the hands we beat, in general, with a flop raise-fold vs a call. Then again maybe we lose less vs. sets and that makes up for it.

I need more work on thinking through this sort of spot. It's so vastly different from limit games, where you're mostly playing for the money that's already in the pot.

Looks fine. I wouldn't minraise river without solid reads on villain postflop game, just seems too thin vs a guy whos donked MW into 4 people and triple barreled, and getting jammed on stinks.

Hey Tapirboy. I think I remember you from the micro stakes limit forum back in, like, 2010.

I play it the same as you did. Raising river might be okay against a complete mouthbreather but at first glance he has to be able to call one-pair hands for us to have 50%+ equity against his calling range. I don't know how realistic that is, even against a huge fish at 4NL.

Raising flop's probably fine too if you want to go that route. Against a 1/3 PSB I'm raising all day, and against a 2/3rd PSB I feel more comfortable calling, so I can go either way when he bets half pot. If he "doesn't raise a lot" and probably isn't that aggro in general, though, I guess I'm more apt to call.
