Ignition 25NL Zone

Hero (209bb) BB: 54

Action folds to BTN (106bb) opens to $0.75, Hero calls.

Flop ($1.60): 276

Hero checks, BTN bets $1.05, Hero raises to $3.35, BTN calls.

Turn ($8.30): J

Hero bets $4.90, BTN calls.

River ($18.10): 6

Hero bets $18 putting BTN all in, BTN calls and shows K9

Cooler or should I have approached the river differently?

We're not short of better combos to take this line with so that could be a problem.
It's basically fine imo, can get called by worse easily vs fish, regs might look up with AdAx KdKx. Touch bigger turn though I think

Flop is good, larger turn. What worse is calling OTR, feels like a we are betting just because we have a flush. x/c is better imo, we have a bluff catcher here, check and evaluate if villain is bluffing pair + Kd/Ad here or not, and decide to call/fold.

Prefer 3b pre, 5 high is too weak to call oop. You fold out all his hands that have a ton of equity vs you and hands that dominate you A5/A4/64s/K5s, etc.

You end up getting stacked anyway.

Flop turn fine. River is tough, he should have a lot of flushes here and overpairs with a diamond. Prob just x/c normal bet, x/f vs a jam, we're towards the bottom of our vbetting range here, and people dont yolo bluff SDV hands here

Not liking the river unless the Ignition 25nlz pool is full of fish and call-happy bad regs (which wouldn't really surprise me). Kind of hard to get value otherwise.

Agreed. Too loose of a call facing a 3x open. I'd flat facing a minraise though.

Hey Butters,

I think you overestimated your draw OTF. I prefer a ch/c and call down. Sure you have a lot of outs, but they are poor quality outs. And enevitably you end up in river situations like this where you hit your out but are unsure whether your hand.

PokerSnowie plays it the same until the river, when it check decides based on villians sizing - calling a 1/2 pot and folding to a psb.

I also ran a quick Pio sim, and Pio generally prefers to check/call the whole way, but plays a mixed strategy with 54s, raising ~40% of the time on the flop. Unlike Snowie, Pio is indifferent to bet sizing on the river and calls.
