What are SLs thoughts on espadrilles?

I personally hate them but I admit I haven't given them a big chance. I would prefer boat shoes in basically every acceptable scenario in which espadrilles would be appropriate to wear.

I love them but mostly wear them as slippers tbh.
If I am on vacation I wear them outside but other than that mostly inside.

This was the explanation I've once received from someone who's pretty high up in the Heineken corporation.

Anyways, enjoy your trip! Which places will you visit in The Netherlands?

Yea, for casual summer shoes I rotate between boat shoes and laceless purcells/chucks

Staying in Amsterdam, prolly take a day trip to Delft, and maybe Haarlem

If you're staying for a reasonable amount of time come down to Rotterdam, Google it, it actually has some pretty awesome architecture and the port is insane to take a look at, not that well accessible by anything but a boat but there are plenty of tours.

Amsterdam is great for the drug scene and has many awesome tourist features, but people are missing out on Rotterdam.

I agree, but I do own one pair of espadrilles that gets a handful of wears each summer. Wouldn't care if someone threw them in the trash tomorrow though.

meh I copped a pair, not to worried about getting a **** ton of use since they are so cheap(although I could have gotten a much cheaper pair).

even if I only wear during beach/vacation type **** it will prob work itself out

Tried my two Driggs pants from Epaulet. They are a little tight. If anyone in Europe wants to buy them, I sell them for what I paid for them (incl. taxes + duties). I pay for shipping.

I dry clean shirts after 2 wears, pants after numerous(prob average like 6), I dont really sweat though.

I have like 6 pairs of shoes I wear including a pair of boots.
05-12-2016 , 04:11 PM
I dry clean my dress shirts after every wear, pants average maybe 5-6 wears.
05-12-2016 , 04:35 PM
I try and get two wears out of my shirts before I clean them because I figure if extends the life of the shirt. I'm sitting in an air conditioned office most of the day so I have a steamer I use to get most of the wrinkles out after one wear.

Pants agree with 5-6 wears or so.

Shoes I have 4 in the main rotation (no boots) never wear the same pair 2 days in a row, shoe trees. All Allen Edmonds. Use a cheap pair I got on EBay as beaters for when it's raining or something.
05-12-2016 , 10:50 PM
Why not the same pair two days in a row?
05-13-2016 , 07:24 AM
It's really bad for the shoes, they won't last.

Put cedar shoe trees in the shoes, let them rest for 24h so all the humidity is getting out. Two pair of shoes are three pair of shoes so to speak.

The Slim fits are actually slim, which is somewhat rare, and I get compliments all the time. Huge selection of patterns and material. And you can even pick the cuffs, collar, etc.

For pants, I would spend a little more and start out with Bonobos or some equivalent. I went cheap to start (~$40 a pair) from a store like J. Crew and have been kicking myself every since. Tough to pull the trigger now on Bonobos, since I'd essentially be getting the same colors.
Bumping this for the current sales for ct shirts.

Hey folks, I'm starting my first proper job soon, 2 items I'm looking for recommendations are an umbrella and a bag. I'm mid 20s and the dress code will be business formal.

For the umbrella do people prefer the folding ones or not? Big upside with folding ones is they can be kept in a bag so a lot less hassle but maybe they look kinda cheap?

For the bag it would need to carry a laptop + some documents I guess.

Cheers

Hey guys. I need a little advice. I work in IT and can almost wear whatever i want during my normal shifts but next week i´m invited to some high class restaurant with some of our managers. I think that i have a very good sense how to dress already and i really like my stlye. Could you maybe just to reassure me take a look at what i´m going to wear and tell me if i look decent.

08-26-2016 , 08:24 AM
Thats a really hard pic to see anything but off the top of my head:

Tuck your shirt in
Jacket is too big(sleeves)
Jeans look like boot cut

With all that said the pairing of the 3 pieces also leaves someting to be desired. As a general rule of thumb, only really fashionable savy people should be wearing blazers with jeans. Witht hat combo the fit needs to be good or you will look like a fish oit of water
08-26-2016 , 09:10 AM
I already told you that i´m fashionable savy so thats not a problem. I really like to combo. The jacket says "I´m serious" but the shirt and the cool jeans also says that i´m the right dude for some fun if you catch my drift I´m going to take another pictures with the hat which i bought today to give you a better impression of my style. I think you are going to like it.

The one thing im agreeing on is that the shirt is too big but that was intentional. I´m starting to lift again (you can see the benchpress on the picture) and i dont want to buy a new expensive shirt in 2 years when im too big due to my intense training schedule.
