I understand you constsntly say that it depends entirely on each person and their skin but a rough suggestion would be nice. I already spend too much time betwren fitness/style i dont want to add skin in there too so just copping ao basics is good for me. I currently have 3 products(wash, moisturuzer, eye cream) recommended in an old henry post and they worked well enough but are all almost out so am going to buy some more soon.

AM:
1. Wash - Cerave foaming cleanser
2. Tone/exfoliate - Paula's Choice BHA liquid
2a. can rotate with PC Vitamin C serum on alternating days if you want
3. Sunscreen - Blue Lizard Face
PM:
1. Wash - same as AM
2. Moisturize - Cerave Facial Lotion PM
You can make it a lot more complicated if you want, or drop dime on the fancy brands if it makes you feel good, but I don't really see any need to. This covers most of your bases in terms of the ingredients that have shown proven benefits (BHA, VitC+E, niacinimide, and sunscreen ldo).
Yea, stuff is complicated for sure, but it really does depend on your skin type, or if you happen to have really tolerant skin that never reacts or breaks out to certain things, then you have it really easy.
In general, I'd say in order of importance and long term effect, daily suncreen/moisturizer > exfoliant > vit c/retinoids/serums/etc. If you just wash/moisturize/spf every day, I think you've optimized about 90% of what you can for your skin, and you'll be way ahead of the general pop. The exception is if you want to try and get retin-a from your derm (you can usually get it by complaining about ingrowns). It's great for anti-aging, but comes with a lot of upkeep. You need daily heavy moisturizing/spf to use it often, as it makes your skin very photosensitive and you tend to peel a little while using it.
I use the same face wash/exfoliator as n00b actually. The cerave foaming is the best facewash I've used. It's really gentle, and a bottle goes a long way. There is really no point in overpaying for the fancy facewashes with exfoliants or whatever other expensive active ingredients they may have, because those ingredients never get absorbed by your skin since you're just washing it off. They are just a gimmick, like most skin products.
I use the BHA roughly 2-3x/week, and definitely any time after shaving and before applying balm. The PC BHA is personally my most important skin item, as it really helps with ingrowns (my beard hair tends to grow out more curved rather than straight) and smaller pimples and what not. It's best for more oily/acne/ingrown prone people. If you are more on the dry/no acne or ingrowns, then AHA is better. If you have tolerant skin, you can rotate both.
After my exfoliant sits for ~10 mins, I use hado labos hyaluronic acid + sebamed clear face gel moisturizer. I have pretty sensitive skin, but no acne and the occasional ingrown, and I find these 2 combined provides plenty of moisture with very minimal ingredients. They are water based products as well rather than oil like your standard moisturizers. Again, if your skin is more tolerant, you don't need to limit yourself to water/gel based. The cerave PM is a great option if that's the case, for both morning and night.
Sunscreen is kind of tricky as well, again with more sensitive skin, physical sunscreens are your best bet. I use the Paula's Choice super light spf 30, which is physical, no chemicals, and has a little tint in it as well. I also use the biore aqua watery essence, which is chemical, from time to time. It is a lot lighter and gel-like, and much cheaper than the PC one.
