boat shoes are undoubtedly more common than vans or whatever single brand of casual sneakers like that... but imo vans=adidas superstars=nike air max = etc. beater sneakers as a category crush boat shoes in popularity but obviously not in looks.

So this guy called veroz who posts often on reddit compiled all of his fits into one album. I think its amazing for the one reason that he has such a vast array of fits that pretty much anybody can find a good amount they like. Good for inspiration:

Ignore the first couple obviously. There are also some costumes/challenges throughout which are pretty easy to notice. They are also on a rough chronological order some some of this stuff he does in the earlier pics are hit or miss.

Exactly what I thought. Definitely knows what he's doing but just goes out in left field way too often.

What about AE seconds? I think they're $200ish maybe. Some are damaged but many have absolutely nothing wrong with them.

YouFaail, AEs are of such incredible quality that over the long haul you will easily save money by buying some than having to replace cheaper pairs over 10 years or whatever. Definitely worth saving up for a pair.

Since you are in the UK, AE will be more expensive due to customs.

Have a look at the Loake 1880s collection.

Also, as JRustle pointed out, good shoes are a good investment, they keep the quality over time and look good even after years of wearing them.

You will find something cheaper that looks the same fresh out of the box, but definitely looks a lot worse even after 6 months of wearing them.
