Whats the general opinion on Royaums (shoes)? Dislike most of them in general but think that some can be dressed down quite nicely.
Cant post pics from device but could when I get home.

Different question: Would you guys go with brown rather than black for your first pair of dress shoes? Why?
07-01-2013 , 05:20 PM
Depends what goes with the suits you already own/plan on buying I guess
07-02-2013 , 01:48 AM
barbra,

i think brown is more versatile and can be used in smart-casual outfits. Blacks a bit more limited and on the more formal side imo.

depends totally on how you dress and where you go tho.

If its for the workplace go black, if its just to wear with suits for occasions like weddings and ****, brown.
07-02-2013 , 04:54 AM
Its for both work and "other" i.e. venues, dates whatnot. Work place is a bank, however informal (I cover a lower-end position; overdressing is not appreciated. Work shoes would definitely do well however wearing suits not so much). I believe brown would be a better choice?

Darkbrown > light(er) brown?
07-02-2013 , 05:27 AM
brown is more flexible/versatile so yeah imo, much easier to wear casually than black.
07-02-2013 , 06:44 AM
Thanks man, appreciated

Yeah if you can get away with brown shoes as your go to work shoes, you can definitely double up and use them as your nicer shoes for going out. I would go dark brown as to not be too flashy for work.

Probably agree that brown is the way to go for you but it's not like you can't wear black shoes pretty casually as well.

Also, please do post pics of said Royaums.

I purchased some black Park Avenues a year and a half ago, after I started my first job. I'm so insanely happy with the decision to finally pull the trigger and buy them after months of reading around on this forum & styleforum.

Thinking about getting a pair in brown...or maybe a different shoe in brown. I only have the black, and it's about time I mix it up a bit.

walnut strands ftw

I want to buy a set of sunglasses to go with it, found a couple of (in my opinion) sharp sunglasses.
What do you guys think? I like 1 and 3 the best, but I'm still undecided.

Decent sale at Bonobos at the moment. Basically up to 25% off any order up to $500 (tiered, but $500 gets you $125 off, $250 gets you $50 off etc). Man I'm a sucker for this kind of stuff, just impulse spent $500 to get the most discount haha.

I have been going overboard on the online shopping pre my US trip. I currently have waiting for me at my ex's house to pick up in a few weeks:

4 x pants
3 x shorts
3 x shirts
3 x polos
3 x sweaters
2 x tees
1 x blazer
1 x belt
1 x watch
1 x shoes

Pretty much have my wardrobe remodelling sorted outside of picking up a couple pairs of AE's and the odd impulse buy if there is something I really like. It's hard work setting up a wardrobe basically from scratch when you've been living relatively poor and out of a suitcase for like 3 years.

I actually like 2>1 and three doesn't work, but it all depends on your style. I'm a whiter than white white boy and definitely would look stupid in 1, but I think if you were black/olive skin toned you could probably pull it off. I feel like this is going to unleash some OMG RACIAL backlash but it really shouldn't.

I would get the Strand or McAllister in Walnut. The McAllister works better with chinos since it is a little more casual. I have the AE Manistee belt in walnut and its goes perfectly with either shoe: http://www.allenedmonds.com/aeonline...40000000001_-1

imo there's no reason to mess with anything but wayfarers when it comes to sunglasses

I just got the Strands in Bourbon. They seem easy to rock then the walnut.

Looking to buy some casual white shoes to mix into the boat shoe rotation.

Thoughts on these? Too hipster?

Will mainly wear with go to hell pants/shorts and polos/OCBD.

Please post other reccs if you got them. Not entirely sold.

Asking for an opinion on sunglasses is useless. We have no idea what your face looks like. Basically, we can only say if the sunglasses are a bad design or not and even then, besides the outrageous looking ones, there's really no reason to say no to a style.

The ones you posted are pretty different than what I normally see, and probably would not look good on most people, but they could easily be fine depending on your face.
