I work in a bank and would like to wear them there, also plan on wearing them when going out and dating, too. Bank is semi formal however so would prefer something not too formal.

Dont have a specific style, think I would like (semi-dark) brown shoes.

Thanks for the tips so far!

What color are your pants/suits you wear to work? That is going to dictate the color of shoes you get a lot.

I would probably just go Allen Edmonds in that range, you could get 2 on sale AEs for 500$, one brown one black.

I need a pair of shoes to wear outside of work but that are relatively dressy. Ie with nice jeans/chinos for a night out etc. I already have some black laced ones, so was looking at some brown loafers. Any recommendations? Budget is roughly $250, i'm quite conservative fashion wise so don't really want anything too fashion forward or flashy, looking at a more classic shoe. Leaning towards something like this. Thoughts? Recommendations?

You can't really go wrong with AE imo

Penny loafers and derby lace ups would be my recommendation (could go oxford as well, but not as casual).

The brands are the standard ones recommended here before.
Your suggested shoe is perfectly fine.

Cheers guys. Is this one a sexier shoe? Obviously a little bit more expensive so if much of a muchness will do AE, but I think I might like this one a little more

Anyone had much experience with TBNY? I've heard a little bit about them and its all been good, but haven't had the same overwhelming number of positive reviews i've had with AE

I've never heard of the brand, but might just be not that big in Central Europe.

I like the AE Walden a lot more.

opinions on twill trousers?

they seem very similar to chinos except straight legged and not the tapered/carroted **** that gets sold in UK shops these days.

also, could do with opinions on these please

im on a tight budget and need some brown shoes, these seem decent. mostly to be worn with dark jeans/shirt/jumper.

Quality probably suspect and not a huge fan of the look but should be fine.

Buying cheap shoes is really a terrible financial decision.
I dont really like the shoes and the quality will show after a few wearings.

I think overall River Island is not the place to shop if you're looking for good value, you would get something better at a more reasonable price at a shoe shop, I think. Don't buy those, they look like cowboy boots!

They're on the Asos website -- I wouldn't normally shop at River Island.

Can someone recommend some brown shoes so I have an idea of what to look for?

For an all purpose casual shoe, am I much better off going with the below in snuff suede than those loafers I posted? Or the Mcallister? I'm in the states in August, and could probably afford to pull the trigger on two pairs if absolutely necessary. Current shoe wardrobe is (outside of work attire/sport): Tan brogued loakes (very similar to walnut strands), navy sperrys, grey vans, ted baker black dressy shoes, and brown leather chukkas. Feel like I need an all purpose dressy/casual shoe that is classier than chukkas but more casual than dress shoes/loakes.

Im in love with nuemoks, but its up to you. I wouldnt get one of those as my first good pair of shoes though. I would get something that could be more easily dressed up to a suit/formal, or dressed down.

I've already got a couple pairs I can dress up so should be fine. Pretty cool shoes

Where do you go to get nose hair removed? (I'm australian) recently noticed I have a disturbing amount. Can you do it yourself with tweezers?
06-25-2013 , 12:41 AM
You can get those little laser hair removal ones from Kmart I believe.

In snuff suede they are good (the other colors are meh imo), I would definitely change the laces though.

re: nose hair removal
Dont take a lighter, I did it once and it hurt and I burned myself.

Decided to invest in a pair of these for starting my professional career. Black and simple so obviously can wear with almost any suit color, and I figure I'll have them for a while if I take care of them
06-26-2013 , 01:42 PM
My understanding was that brown goes with nearly any suit. I like them though, cant really do wrong with them

Edit: snuff suede ones look really sharp, i find the other colours ridiculously ugly though

yeah for the most part, but brown is a touch less formal. those black PAs though are like basically the best shoe possible as far as career-wear goes. almost impossible to go wrong if youre wearing them.
