Hey guys, I'm looking for a short, dark sand/beige trenchcoat, like this one

Are there any other brands which offer a similar model? Don't want to spend 1.5k on a Burberry coat.

Too short imo

Business casual pants and shirts recommendations? Prefer slim fit for pants
11-22-2015 , 03:14 AM
Looking to up my style game significantly. Right now, it's close to non-existent. Any general recommendations or comprehensive resources for how to become more style-conscious as a style newb? I've been trying to make a point of just keeping an eye out for what I think looks cool, but I haven't been doing a very good job.

Styleforum is a great resource. I'd also just pick some people on instagram who you like and follow them.

FTT,

It's fine. Very preppy. Not my style but you won't look terrible in it or anything.

kara/flop,

One of the things I did when I got the itch to dress better was I went through some of the big styleforum threads and saved pictures of outfits I liked. Didn't take long to find inspiration for the type of look I liked and wanted to emulate. Here's a link to the big menswear casual thread (not casual by college standards but whatever): http://www.styleforum.net/t/253842/w...0#post_8198176

There's a couple other versions of that same basic thread for streetwear if that's your thing and then another one that's basically all suits.

Reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice

Has some decent side bar links for basic inspiration. Mainly I would look at WIWT threads and do what scrolls suggested.

Whatever you don't do buy too much at one point. I probably do it on occasion but it's critical when you are growing a style to buy pieces slowly and give them some wear and see how you like it and maybe gather some inspiration on different ways to wear it.

With that being said it does somewhat depend on how out of style you are. Definitely pick up a couple pears of pants, a nice pair of jeans and tan chinos are the first. Make sure you study fit and understand how you want the clothes to fit.

Find some inspiration for outfits and then post them here and people can recommend brands and pieces to check out.

Style forum and reddit both tend to list the brands with their posts so that's another way to look for pieces that appeal to you.

Thanks, Inya, scrolls, and Custer. All very helpful to me as I wasn't aware any of those resources existed. First steps are I'm going to check those out as well as try to be more aware of the style surrounding me in my every day life and what I think looks good.

Been meaning to post more fit pics but don't like doing them in non full length mirrors. Back home for thanksgiving and although don't have a lot of clothes with me thought I try to take some if I remember. Ignore no shave november.

Happy hour with my dad

I wear 34x32 or 35x32 slim, most of my winter colors/wool pants etc are 35 to leave room for my bulking.

Cant tell if you like or hate the sweater.

Daniel Wellington 55% off

I know some people have talked about liking daniel wellington. Well black friday would be a good time to buy.,

Theres sales all over, to the dude who just boat some Oak Street, I would email them and ask if you could get refunded the difference(they now have 20% off), if not just cancel/return and reorder, saving 80 would be worth it

Heres a reddit thread discussing black friday deals:

Bonobos is 30% off site wide for cyber monday. They also have a pretty good winter/fall sale section right now. Worth checking out as you can get pieces for 40-60% retail which make it good value.

Picked up a pair of cords, navy tweed dress pants and a alpaca blend pull over for 250 ish total. Great value seeing as non sale price would be like 450 or so

Business casual boots that can be worn to work suggestions?
12-13-2015 , 08:39 PM
<200 florsheim
<300 meermin
after that you have a lot of options.

Heres a suggestion on the cheaper end:

http://www.florsheim.com/shop/style/15069-202.html

A lot of people will recommend spending more(~400) on boots as they will last longer and even get better over time.

Forgot Johnston and Murphy might have a few choices. I have these:

Work fairly decent in rough winters once you waterproof them.

^ damn those Johnston and Murphy ones are crispy and about the top of what Id want to spend. Ty

Ill check out Florsheim as well

Also can Chinos be considered business casual?

I like those bonobos weekday warriors posted. Are Slacks considered okay for business casual?
