I use the Lions game as an example because it is pretty much the only real defense he has faced. He was laughed at and got destroyed. He has looked terrible even in victories barring a couple drives.
Well said.

Tebow didn't torch the Jets defense, so even if the Jets are a better defense, it really doesn't matter since Tebow had a worse game against the Jets than the Lions. All you are doing with Tebow is looking at the fact that his team won the game and somehow want to up him to an average QB. The Broncos didn't win the game, the Jets lost it, as did the Dolphins.

The Jets contained Tebow well except for the last drive, so all you want to do is look at the last drive and the result.

Of course. People always want to call me out for being nitty wrt to arguments, but they can get away with it if it is convenient for their arguments.

Hopefully Tebow will have a few bad games and Orton will start, since he should be the one starting.

Re: SL Sports Containment Thread

Tebow beat the Dolphins (arguably WOAT team/WOAT coach) and the Chiefs - and the Raiders when Carson was like 4 days removed from tailgating USC games while counting his money. And he managed to look pretty bad doing it.

I know wins are all that matter, but sample size/resulted oriented etc. Denver very likely wins those same games with Orton at the helm.

Exactly. Orton is definitely winnning these games and last night's game as well.

Looks like some people are just scared of waiting until Denver plays the Pats and Bears.

Re: SL Sports Containment Thread

what the **** kind of field does Dallas play on? I'd think they play on one of those modern artificial turfs that mimics grass, given that their stadium cost 100 trillion dollars, but from pictures it looks like the ****ty stuff from the 70s

avatar/location for this weekend? and are you going? I think I vaguely remember you saying that you lived up North now, but I know you used to live in atl

also, in relevant news, Alabama being considered for the National Championship Game is hypocritical at best and ****ing bat-**** ridiculous at worst.

why shouldn't alabama be considered for the NCG?

LSU is a lock and IF the goal is to pit the two best teams against one another (i'm seriously not sure if this is the goal) then i don't see how you can argue against a team that took LSU to overtime.

Re: SL Sports Containment Thread

I assume Bama will fade Auburn tomorrow without too much difficulty. At that point, they are going to get outright rewarded for losing to LSU. They are going to sit back with a national title berth in hand and have an automatic pass into that game while LSU still has to go and try to win the SEC championship game. That **** ain't right.

If you can't win your division, you shouldn't be eligible for an at-large pass into the national title game. I agree entirely with what Vintage said.

There was a similar situation a few years back where Kansas got a BCS bowl instead of Mizzou as a reward for losing to Mizzou. Mizzou got an additional loss to an elite Oklahoma squad in the Big 12 title game, KU wasn't in the title game since they lost head-to-head (but I promise you they'd have lost to OU also), and because they failed during the regular season they got the nod that Mizzou didn't. Stuff like this is horse****, where a team loses a game and is better off for it in the final standings.
