What bizarro world am I living in where every single part of being a fan is fun?

I was actually glad for that given how popular the Atlanta bet was with so many people I knew, national pundits, etc.

I was hopeful for the win there at the end, and that's as good as I've seen Tarvaris Jackson play (the two picks were both good throws that got bounced up, one of them a mishandled should-be TD pass, so even the bad part of the boxscore really isn't on him), but I'm not too invested in this season since I absolutely know it's going nowhere.

Way more emotionally invested in seeing WSU chase bowl eligibility after being a doormat for a lot of years now.

<3 when the popular bet is wrong. obv with my system i always have unpopular bets and get berated by "experts" on a weekly basis.

Yeah, thankfully I turned my back on the NBA a few years ago (have tuned into less than 10 games in the past five years) so now it's not even remotely bothersome that it's not on.

Inability to watch regular season hockey is definitely a real problem, or at least always has been for me. I just get stuck scoreboard-watching.

But football is superior even if you fix all of the problems with NBA/NHL so whatever.

How dare you put college football so low.

ya I'd rather see a good rivalry NCAA fb game between two meh teams than watch the Stanley Cup anyday. And I'd rather watch peewee hockey than the NBA finals. And I'd rather watch 10-year old reruns of Family Guy than NBA regular season.

In the absence of an NBA season, now is a perfect time to become a fan of the San Jose Sharks!

The hierarchy where I'm concerned is...

NCAAF/NFL (largely interchangeable in terms of my enjoyment) >>>>> NCAAB >> NHL Playoffs > MLB > NHL regular season >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> NBA anything

I'll just be happy if the Avs can manage to win a total of 10 games in the 2011 calendar year

I read this as you putting NCAA baseball before MLB. Then I realized you meant basketball.

The real hierarchy: NHL > NFL >> NCAAFB > NCAA bball tournament > MLB Playoffs/NBA Playoffs > NCAA reg season basketball > MLB > NBA reg season

Of course this hierarchy changes depending on if my team is playing a playoff game.

That's because you're a moran, NHL playoffs are the best form of sports the world has ever seen.

Things that happened in this year's NHL playoffs:

- The Chicago Blackhawks, who had eliminated the Vancouver Canucks the previous 2 years, faced off against Vancouver in the 1st round. They lost the first 3 games, leaving everyone thinking Vancouver (who finished with the best regular season record in the league) had finally exorcised their Blackhawks demons. They then lost the next 3 games by some pretty embarrassing scores, setting up an epic game 7 in which Chicago was down like 1-0 going into the final two minutes of the game, took a penalty, and tied the game shorthanded. **** was ****ing crazy. Game 7 went to overtime before Vancouver finally won it, causing them to celebrate a 1st round win like they won the Stanley Cup.
- 3 of the 4 first round matchups in the Eastern Conference went 7 games, including an epic series between historic rivals Boston (eventual SC champions) and Montreal that was also decided in overtime.
- In game 3 of the 1st-round series between the Sharks and Kings, with the series tied 1-1 after the Sharks lost an embarrassing game 2 at home by a score of 4-0, the Sharks again went down 4-0 early in the second period, and after enduring several heartbreaking playoff failures in a row I was ready to shoot myself. Then the Sharks came back and scored 5 goals all in the 2nd period to tie the game at 5 before winning in it overtime in one of the most epic games in playoff history:

- Oh yeah, there was an epic 7 game Stanley Cup Finals in which the Bruins and Canucks each defended their home ice for the first 6 games, leading to a game 7 where the Bruins finally broke the Canucks' serve to win their first Stanley Cup since 1972.

The fact is I lost almost all my interest in hockey when the lockout happened

ABC and ESPN had top notch coverage
