I thought this thread belongs here than in the health and fitness forum, simply because it's about more then just health but the student/poker pro wannabe lifestyle in general. Plus, most of the threads there are pretty hardcore in comparison to this in the fitness department.

Background

So abit about me, I’m a poker pro, but still enrolled in my degree. As a result, I live pretty sedentary lifestyle. In high school, I was quite athletic and an all-state representative for a number of different sports. Now, I get tired easily, gained weight, smoke weed on occasions and haven’t exercised in forever. I’m still in my 20s, I think it’s time to get fit again (aesthetics + health = +EV).

Diet

I aim start a diet of only eating healthy food. No more fatty food, junk food and the usual crap I’ve been eating… My main aim is to have a diet based around healthy food: salads, sushi, and high protein/low fat/low sugar options.

Exercise

Also will start an exercise routine. I haven’t decided on the specifics yet. I don’t have a lot of spare time. I might get back into a swimming squad. But right now I’ll start with something simple: 30 sit ups and push-ups a night. I’ll add more things in as times go (such as cardio, getting a personal trainer and gym-ing).

Nootropics

I’m also working on getting good nootropics stacks. I’m thinking of piracetam stacks. I’ll do abit more research before going forward. I have a few friend who are poker pros and already have noot stacks.

Sleep

My sleep cycle is completely ****ed. I basically sleep at like 4am every night after using the computer. I’ll probably take some melatonin to help me sleep and fix my cycle, then focus on not thinking too much.

Life

I’m completely disorganized and my house is messy and dusty as ****. This is definitely bad for my health in terms of hygiene and not having clean air to breathe. Starting now, I aim to clean up my house and throw away all the crap.

Finally, did I forget to mention I spend wayyy too much time on social media. And unlike 2p2, facebook is evil and won’t let users self-ban. I was addicted to TV series before, and now I'm a full fledged "Otaku", watching anime non stop :P I’ll set out a plan to stop procrastinating and wasting my time.

So this is a goal thread where I get life together, and be more efficient as a person.

It is the mid semester break right now.

This week I haven't done that well. Although I'm eating less, mainly salmon and salad. My sleeping pattern is still pretty bad and my house is still messy as ****.

Aims for Tuesdays

- Clean my computer screen

- Catergorise my electronic files

- Clean/Vacuum my bedroom, living room and my toilet (in that order)

- start an exercise routine with 30 push ups and 30 sit ups (Imao do I even gym)

That is all.

Hey, don't beat yourself up for 30 pushups/30 situps. If you're in the gym and you're trying, that's all that matters. The quest to true strength has to start somewhere brother. GLGL, i'll be following

That is all.

So today wasn't that good of a day. I woke up after 2pm (bad sleeping habit) so I didn't get much done (I had to leave home at 7pm for a function).

I did 30 pushups/ 30 situps, and now all my muscles are aching after having to readjust to not having exercised in forever.

I'll try to clean my computer now before I go to sleep. I've leave the house cleaning to thursday.

Despite my poker upswing in the last few months, I've decided to enrol in four courses this semester so I'm expecting quite a busy schedule. I'm still hoping I can be financially well off enough to the point where I can just drop out one day.

In the middle of lecture atm, its boring asf, dunno how the constitution will help me run up a baller bankroll.

Pretty pissed about all these people sh*tting on Sharapova. She owed up to her mistake very quickly and says its a genuine mistake. Obv the media just sensationalise this and only leave the "she failed a drug test part in" while not mentioning that this substance is only recently banned and she's been using it as a medication for a long while.

The general public went after her faster than a pack of hungry hyenas, jumping to conclusions. To make it worse they bring in the race card with Serena. Just show to those people just want to see you fall after they build you up.

So before the end of april, I decide I want to get a few things sorted out

First and foremost, I hired cleaners to improve the state of my house and decide what to keep and what to throw out. Having less possessions definitely imo makes life easier.

Also, I feel I want to design a plan around my uni schedule, poker grind, hobbies and time I can spend on myself such as health/gym goals and overall hanging out with mates. Taking a break overall from 2p2 till april and when I get backed I hope I get alot done by then.

HEY GUYS, I'M BACK!!

Did I get my sh*t together? Don't think so.

Did I f**k up my uni semester and lose 10k+ playing poker, staking people and blowing cash for no reason? Definitely.

I've definitely turned into a full time degen and things are pretty bad. Every my social communication skillz are cringe atm when I think back at the way I talk to people.

I have just a week left before semester to do something constructive and I'll try my best in the coming days. Will update here. I will try my best to resist turning on that wretched pokemon app to catch those lil f***ers.

This was strangely good to read. I don't struggle with any of these things in my life. Not that I should be feeling elevated from someone's struggle.

Remember to keep finding sources of inspiration and motivation. There's some quote about being inspired is like taking a shower everyday. You don't just take one shower and are clean forever. Goodluck

Pokemon go is taking over my life. At least, I'm not gambling anymore, sooo... one addiction for another :P ? Just reached 500 posts on 2p2 also...
07-24-2016 , 12:40 AM
So uni starts tomorrow, but I haven't even enrolled yet. I'm way behind on all my other goals too. And this week will be hectic. As I have casino poker MTTs, and pokemon go meet ups, and possibly have to leave city for a chess tournament in the capital.
07-26-2016 , 12:19 PM
So holidays is over

I haven't done a single thing I wanted to do, like catch up on work that I'm behind in or cleaned my house...

I spent/lost around 5k this month and ran terrible in high stakes PLO. Getting staked for some tournaments now so finers crossed.

Things to do ASAP

- Clean up mess, random garbage around my house

- Clean up computer files

- Clean Bedroom

- Clean bathroom

- Finish my practical reports from last semester!!

- Chase up on the exam I missed!

- Enrol in uni courses

- Pay for overdue student fees

Will only play poker on thursday if I satisfactorily attempt do the above tasks

Out of interest, what are you studying? Remember 4 papers is a full-time load. If the course is intense and you anticipate a busy semester you might need to be realistic and drop at least one of the following:

-Pokemon Go - this should be the first to go, frankly
-Poker - maybe reduce this to one day a week since you're studying full-time. Are you receiving assistance from the Government? If so, you might be able to drop it all together until semester break. Also, if you're playing high stakes PLO you probably have a decent roll- Could you perhaps dig into your savings rather than spending valuable study time on poker?
-Chess - unless this is a one-off thing, you might want to let this go until semester break. Travelling here and there for tourneys costs time and money. I hate to say it 'cause i love chess but, again, you can get back on it after the semester.

Also, what sort of grades are you aiming for? This will have considerable bearing on the extent to which you ought to reduce the above.

P.S. There's been a lack of reporting on your diet. How's that going? I trust you're avoiding sugar so that you get more done in the latter stages of the day.
Also, do you have a plan for getting up early this semester? Again, it's a way of getting more **** done.

Yea good advice.

Pokego is waste of time - agreed

Poker - I should also take a break if I'm not winning

Chess - Yea, I'm not playing this weekend cuz it's too cold and I'm too behind in everything, I was a pretty high ranked junior player and became a master and wanted to go pro. But the game is too intensive and requires too much work, also the pay isn't good unless ur a top 10 world player. I still have competitive goals in chess tho for personal aims

I study Law which is alot of work atm, I was ding well academically during high school, because back then my family was quite academically focused and they were quite strict, so I did well. But now unrestrained and in uni, ever since chess and poker overtook my life again, grades been getting rekt (I literally don't study anything in the course until 2-3 hours before the finals lol)

My aim is just get back to decent grade and into shape.
