1) Yes, all things equal, universities LOVE first time full time degree seeking freshmen in the late 20's. Odds of graduation are MUCH higher for this group.
2) Military experience, combat experience(?), pilot experience(is this right?) trump pretty much anything you did in high school. High school achievements? Who gives a **** about high school achievements when you've got WAY more to talk about than any 18 year old. These apps were made for the 99% of students who are coming directly from HS and need to be held by the hand and told what to write.
