FWIW, I've looked into this in the past, and couldn't find any non-ancedotal/speculative evidence. If there is any research that backs up what you guys are saying, it's gotta be relatively new. I believe in the explanation that our genetics are meant for a different society. The reason why obese people are fat is because eating a high amount of carb/fat foods was seen as a way to store fat and live longer, but is now harmful. Tough when you have very cheap food offered on every street corner. We all know that fat women are viewed as beautiful in certain societies because being fat was a sign of health and wealth, and better chance of carrying your genes to the next generation.
