yeah lkj, i don't understand why you can't just let people **** all over you publicly.

Also, if I'm able to accomplish an entire rant in 2-3 lines these days, I'm proud to say that I seem to have finally overcome my "overly verbose" demon that TBE says that I have.

Re: ***Student Life Low Content Garbage Chatter Thread***
I mean, I won't try to defend the city of Vancouver. The fans there really are ****ing nuts. The stock defense here is that this is about a few idiots making a whole group look bad, but I won't lie; I'm convinced that the sample size of bad Canuck fans is a fairly meaningful one. Seattle has good fans - the Seahawks have an especially great fanbase (and I can only imagine how many other NFL cities would react to having their only Super Bowl opportunity stolen from them) - but I can't honestly say that I think Vancouver to be nearly as good.
Obviously that doesn't affect my rooting interests though. Being my team since childhood, no chance I'm defecting unless Seattle finally gets a team of their own.

I can't for the life of me understand how people see parents having to deal with their children out in public and think to themselves, "Now I'd sure like to do THAT someday."

yeah the whole thing is really really silly. people acting like it's a tragedy and stuff. it's just people, the dominoes falling in the right places. every single city in the world has young stupid males that have access to alcohol, it's just a matter of circumstance.

Re: ***Student Life Low Content Garbage Chatter Thread***
some video here ( **** gets real around 3:12)
a quote that really bothered me ""This isn't what the Canucks are about. This isn't what their fans are about, this isn't what this city is about," lifelong Canucks fan Chad McMillan told the Canadian Press.
well, no. clearly you have a not so small number of people willing to loot, destroy, light and fight. This is now what the Canucks are about.

please elaborate on this because this behavior absolutely blows my mind (although it would appear that i'm in the minority).
does the ability to watch your team in person make that much of a difference to you where you'll just drop the canucks after being a fan of them for years?
i'm born and raised in NYC but grew up a fan of teams located in other states. i admit my initial decision to cheer for these teams is bizarre (although i was only 6 at the time) but after being a fan for so many years i could never drop one of my teams for any reason. i'm a dallas stars fan (was a northstars fan) and know tons of ex-northstar fans who are now minnesota wild fans. it blows my mind how people can cheer for a team throughout their entire lives and just switch at the snap of a finger.

Yes, of the many ****ty things surrounding a sport riot, one of the worst is the incessant need of the media and fans to repeat that the trouble makers are not real fans and are just there to **** things up. Morons can be fans of hockey teams too. Some of the people breaking windows were wearing $100 jerseys and had painted faces; they're not just fans for a night.
