Yeah, Jared Lorenzen? Didn't the Giants have him on their roster?
08-12-2011 , 10:19 AM
That's him. I think he hung around for a year or two and was on their Superbowl roster

A girl I sort of know just said I look like Chris Martin from Coldplay. I think that's a complement..
08-12-2011 , 05:33 PM
Did you tell her that you tag your friends on Facebook in pictures of letters in order to spell out the word penis on top of their page?
08-12-2011 , 05:37 PM
Yes, she said that would be an awesome thing to do and that I should add her on facebook so I could do it to her that night.

left the sink running while i was in the shower (i take long showers). flooded bathroom and came downstairs to a flooded computer desk (of course it'd be directly underneath my bathroom). miraculously, everything works.

pumped for my home poker game tonight.

I don't for the life of me understand why so many announcers act so confounded when quarterbacks, after hanging out in the pocket long enough and not finding anyone on 3rd down, dump it off underneath.

"I don't understand why quarterbacks do that! It's 3rd down, throwing short like that doesn't even give your team a chance to convert!"

I get why the masses don't understand. For one, it isn't immediately intuitive why a QB would do that, and besides that they usually get announcers in their ear confirming to them that it was a stupid thing to do. But WTF? What are the announcers doing? These are usually former players. How can they not understand that when nobody is open and when the QB has hung in the pocket for as long as he's supposed to, he should just try to get whatever is there by dumping off to a safety valve and then hope for a longshot like a couple of broken tackles to maybe provide the conversion? Maddening.

agreed. sports commentary is almost always unbearable if you're an educated sports fan.

imo, nothing is worse than ESPN's baseball coverage. i'm a certified baseball degen, but even my casual fan friends know enough about the game to cringe when joe morgan slobs the knob of some SP with a bunch of wins or a hitter's RBIs.

poker commentary is also painful.

In before Karak comments on how little I know about baseball.

Just watched the first couple of episodes of Weeds yesterday since I see that it's available on Netflix streaming. It's actually pretty interesting and I think I might like it.
08-12-2011 , 06:28 PM
It's kinda cool for a couple seasons and then it takes a huge nosedive. It gets legit terrible in later seasons.
08-12-2011 , 06:32 PM
That's good to know. I'll bail when I stop enjoying it.

Also, +1 to goofy. Seasons 4 and 5 are aids imo. 2 and 3 are my favorites by far. 6 and 7 (current one) are meh. not as good as 2-3, but watchable.

I always think that you forget that I support drug legalization.
08-12-2011 , 06:39 PM
Also, Damages is really letting it fly now that it's on DirecTV. I haven't seen the newest episode yet, but two episodes ago they just put bare boobs on the screen for no great reason? I thought that stuff like that was totally confined to the HBO and Showtime families. I was mildly surprised when they started using the F-word this season, but the nudity caught me off-guard.

who should i vote for for president? somebody to legalize it and bring back poker plz

obviously this dude 2p2 is pushing doesn't have a prayer. He wasn't even mentioned under "longshot" GOP candidates on the news last night.

Ron Paul.

(You can see a page or two ago goofy and I debating about whether Ron Paul truly has a prayer, but he's polling in double figures both in Iowa and nationally now, and I maintain that while he's a longshot he does have some chance.)

Paul is pro-civil liberties pretty much across the board and is very clear about being in favor of drug legalization and allowing freedom to play poker.

He won the GOP debate in Iowa today according to USA Today fwiw

Maybe my vote (as a Georgian) will actually matter for once!
08-12-2011 , 06:51 PM
He did fine; people who like him will always tell you he won a debate, whereas a bunch of other people tell you he's a crazy old man. Thankfully he doesn't so much get treated like an old man anymore, they locate him closer to the center of the stage and they actually let him be kind of the focal point of the foreign policy part of the debate. That, and he and Newt Gingrich (who has precisely zero chance but I still regard as one of the brightest candidates) stood in agreement about measures that need to be taken with regard to the federal reserve.

Personally I think Pawlenty won the debate in terms of actually raising his profile and likely favorability ratings, but Paul held steady and scored maybe a mild win for the night.

My primary vote never means ****. Washington always goes really late; I'm registered to vote in Indiana now, and then my heart dropped when I saw that it also is one of the late states. For one month every four years, I'd like to be an Iowan.

Last edited by LKJ; 08-12-2011 at 06:52 PM. Reason: I voted for Hillary last time since that primary was still going on and the GOP was settled.

damages-- the lawyer show on FX? how many seasons have they put out? i watched the first and that was it. finale was beyond atrocious.
08-12-2011 , 07:10 PM
It's on season four right now. I've loved the show throughout. Yes it's the lawyer show that was on FX, but FX bailed after season three and it's on one of those Friday Night Lights-type exclusive DirecTV things now.

4 seasons into the Wire and it passed up Breaking Bad as my personal #1 fav show. holy **** how have i not seen it until now.
08-12-2011 , 11:32 PM
Yeah I really gotta start watching both of those show. The wire just seems to good to never watch from everything I've heard.
