I'd play the fun big tournaments but they end at a stupid UK time if you go deep.

tuts has a similar mindset to me lol. If I'm shortstacked around the bubble I'm happy with mincashing, but rage if I somehow run it up and bust short of the big monies.

I hate girls that give you the "you're gonna have to earn it" line.

"I'd try, but I'm not confident in your ability to earn it back."

Anyone got any good study tipa? That is my weakness this semester so far

Is it normal for everyone to drive home drunk and underage? I go to parties once in a while around here, they suck, but people all just drive home like nothing is wrong drunk, and they are underage.

wtf is up with that.

i wish you would leave 2+2 and come back in 3 years when you have some sort of perspective on anything having to do with something in life. instead of just asking ridiculous questions.

Ive never driven drunk and don't advise it obv, I have a friend who has recently got a DUI and has hindered him. I gotta give him rides to school, luckily were both in the same class in the morning.

I have driven high a fair amount which I still wouldn't advise but I have never gotten pulled over (not justifying driving high).

Moral of this post don't drink and drive lol

oh also if you get trashed, just walk. Maybe thats easier in college than in HS though

It's not ok at all.

Keep in mind if you do this and you get caught, it will make it very difficult to get into/maintain standing at a university.

As long as the probability of getting caught is > 0 (which it always is), why risk it when you have so much to lose?
02-24-2010 , 07:31 AM
i literally JUST yesterday got DUI charges dropped. was approximately 9 months from start to finish. trust me, the hassle and headache it creates is sooooooo not worth risking it. in all honesty, and im a terribly and selfish person for saying this, but thats so much worse than the danger it creates (which is HUGELY minimal by comparison).
02-24-2010 , 10:57 AM
I'd never drink and drive. It just seems really wrong to be in charge of a vehicle when I'm incapacitated. Knowing me I'd hit something and there would be a load of hassle with insurance or if I hit someone I don't know what I'd do.

If someone killed a member of my family because they were drunk and behind the wheel I would easily demand 20+ years prison for them. If they didn't get that I'd probably do other stuff that I wouldn't post in a place like this..
Srs bizniz.

yesterday was day 1 of not playing poker.
i cleaned my room instead.
today is day 2.
going to try not to play until scoop in may.
probably wont make it.
i need something to focus my free time on (lol actually doing required readings for class).
thats why having a gf senior year of college would be so sick. you just have something to focus a lot of time on.
i cant think of something similar to poker that id be interested in learning. i considered guitar but i tried that before and ive tried other instruments growing up and im really bad at them. like really really bad.
i was on chat roulette last night and a girl who goes to university of southern alabama said i look like tatum channing. we fell in love on chatroulette. then i got disconnected. i was so sad. lots of wieners on chatroulette. gross.
if you dont want to get insta-nexted on it, just sit there smiling. people seem to like that. or make a funny face. its just funny when a new person pops up and they make a funny face back.
also, if i were to make a justintv and kinda sit there and talk/answer questions/interact, would anyone here watch me? been considering it, but i dont know if my real life friends/people on here would watch. i just need a better creative outlet.

do you play sports?

do you have other friends?
02-24-2010 , 05:05 PM
Driving drunk is stupid, immature and, most of all, incredibly selfish. You create a risk to other people on the roadways because you are too lazy to walk or too ****ing cheap to take a cab. The probability of a fatal accident may not be extraordinarily high, but it's high enough that police expend considerable manpower and finances to stop drunk driving.

Cabs are almost always a reasonable alternative, especially when splitting with friends, and careful event planning can always ensure there is some sort of DD.

Putting past the risk that you might ****ING KILL SOMEONE, considering the legal consequences makes it even more of a clear decision to not drive drunk. DUI checkpoints are becoming more and more common, especially in college towns, and it's quite easy for an officer to come up with "probable cause" to pull you over these days, justified or not.

"Well, I drive really well drunk. I'm a good drunk driver." Ignoring the fact that that is a stupid ****ing statement, the law could give a **** less whether you are a good drunk driver or not. "I'm a good drunk driver" is not an affirmative defense in court. You blow over a 0.08 and you're drunk. Period. (This, of course, ignores all the technicalities that can come up in the arrest/testing process... let's assume that was all proper)

A lot of my friends drove drunk constantly at school. Without being too douchey, I would take the time to remind them of the consequences if they get caught. No one ever listened. The only time I really ripped into someone was when he got behind the wheel after he was too drunk to navigate a stairwell. He was so wasted he couldn't make it up the stairs without falling down them, so he decided to go drive. Keep in mind he had just gotten in and had driven home... so he drove like this and wanted to again. Thankfully through a combination of physical restraint and offering to drive him places, my roommate and I got him to not drive.

But I told my friends time and time again, and no one listened. Finally one got pulled over. He clocked in JUST under the legal limit on the breathalyzer and was let go. I thought this would scare them all into compliance with the law.

The very same friend just got booked for a DUI, blew well over twice the legal limit and is now facing jail time, heavy fines, suspension of his license and a mark on his record which will never go away. Sadly, I doubt this will scare any sense into any of my other friends for longer than 3 months.

"Well I don't want to drive drunk, but then I get wasted and make a bad decision. I can't help it. Am I supposed to not drink?"

Leave your ****ing keys at home or with a trusted friend. It's really not that hard. And if even given all those circumstances you STILL can't resist the urge, then you have a problem with alcohol and need to see a professional.
02-24-2010 , 05:12 PM
And don't get me wrong, I love my friends and I realize all people have their faults. But that's why it gets me so mad... not only do they put other people's lives at risk, but there is a much higher probability that they are putting their own lives, careers and liberty at risk... and I don't want to see that happen to them.

I sincerely hope my friend triumphs in court over his DUI charge, because I think this entire experience is punishment and experience enough, but I'm not so confident he will unless the cops screwed up somewhere. Of course, I would not believe it unjust or unfair if he did not triumph, but he's my friend and I want the best for him in the end. Subjectively knowing him, I know this will teach him his lesson. However, the law doesn't have the benefit of looking at things through subjective lenses.

Hey TUTS, have you played poker throughout college for your main source of income?
02-24-2010 , 10:50 PM
Karak solid post there. I totally understand what you mean about everything and I always talk to my friends too. Which all my friends are <21 so it makes it even worse.

I had another question. If you are underage and drove and you had like a .02 BAC what can happen then if caught. You can get a DUI or something can't you?

It depends on the state. In Georgia it's .08 if you're >21, .02 if you're <21
