Also 25$ is not nearly worth the effect you could have on the grading curve...if you really want the notes you cant mess up your first offer. I would throw out a number like 140$, which may be a little high, but its better than being a little low and pissing the person off who you are attempting to get notes from.

Ignore all other advice. They are trying to make a fool out of you in your class.

Actually if you are going to go the bidding route I agree with this. If you bid too low someone might intentionally give you wrong notes or round up classmates to jump you in an alley or something.

today was the 3rd french class of the semester. it is a mid level french course that relies heavily on participation, however there are tests and essays as well. i came in about 6 minutes late today, and then about 10 minutes into the class the teacher told me to get off my phone because i was on it. i apologized and put my phone away. the teacher is about 30 years old, speaks french, and has an upbeat personality.

these are facts. from my perspective, i came in late because another student texted me 10 minutes before the class and told me that the class was taking place in another building. i was already on my way to class and i trust this person so i went there, and of course the class wasn't there, so i hurried to the regular room and there they were. then, after settling in a realized that i may have some alarms set to go off on my phone during the class, so i took out my phone to shut them off, and that was when the teacher saw me and told me to put it away.

all of this could have been prevented by me being more prepared, however this is the situation, insignificant as it may be.

should i go to office hours and casually apologize to him and justify myself or should i just let it go and be attentive and participant in class?

No cell phone policies in college are legit retarded. Professors act as if there is nothing important outside of class. Maybe it's just me, but if I am texting in class, I am usually setting up plans for later that day or it is for work purposes.

This isn't high school; students have important things outside of school. Along with the fact that texting is rarely distracting. Not sure why people try to make it out to be something worse than what it is. Computers are far more distracting, and even then, I'd prefer that computers are allowed, just the students on them have to sit in the farthest row back.

Depends on the rule you are talking about, your phone should be on silent or vibrate, but I dont mind people using them for texting them...

Which reminds me the one time i forgot to put my phone on silent and opened words with friends in a lecture hall.
