When it comes to law classes, especially 1L classes, there is not much use for Lexis and Westlaw. When you are doing actual legal research, Google is not going to help.

my library at work is >90 degrees at times and I refuse to go up there for any reason. I have also waited from 8am until 4pm to go get a file that i need to work on, because it was all the way in the other room (AND in a file cabinet).

Google Casebriefs

This is just a Google custom search, but it works pretty well.

Re: Law School

Today I spoke to my aunt's brother, asking for career advice. He is a partner at a big DC firm. He told me that he is trying to convince his oldest daughter to NOT go to law school and kept telling me that there are no jobs. It was one of the most depressing 30 minute conversations of my life.

found the possible issue

but yeah i wouldnt advise anyone to go to less than a T1 school without a lot of $$, connections or an absolute undying passion to practice law

(and sometimes only 2 of the 3)

Re: Law School

Yeah he said his firm is not hiring and is having trouble finding stuff for a lot of the associates to work on. But he meant that it's hard to get a job no matter where you look. He encouraged me to look for federal jobs or try to become a prosecutor. He said any courtroom experience can be a big help. Luckily I have some of that.

Yeah I'm thinking maybe government too man. An attorney I talked to said he got his start in the government then went to private practice when he found an opening. Worked out fine for him.
