Re: Law School

have a science degree or engineering degree? i know ive heard of plenty of people with lackluster grades landing great jobs cause they have an engineering or science background.

one guy i know here is median and kinda anti-social engineering type (w/ a mechanical engineering degree) and he landed a great paying job this summer

i am walking around literally begging to work for free for people

Well it was fun celebrating the end of the semester for 3 days, now it's on to reading a 400 page write on packet for law review.

Some things worth trying:

Craigslist - Believe it or not some law firms post jobs there

Gmaps - What you can do is enter your zipcode, then "search nearby". Search for law firms in your area, and get their addresses and mass mail resumes to them and express your willingness to work for free to gain experience.

Symplicity - my school uses this system for employers to post jobs, nothing new. But, what you can do is talk to CSO and obtain reciprocity to use other school's system. SO if you were going home for the summer, or something like that, you could get access to a law school's symplicity system.

Pro Bono - Google Search "Pro bono" + "your state". You might find some of the legal aid offices looking for help.

GL, maybe some 2ls and 3ls can also post their tips. I will post if I think of anything else.

Re: Law School

Karak- Many law schools require a set amount of pro bono and provide a list of recommended sites. What some people I know have done is signed up do to the N hours of Pro Bono at a place, and then when they are done with that just kept showing up to help. Sometimes it was just making coffee and stapling ****, but if you show interest in the cause or something you might be able to get a letter of recommendation out of it.

Re: Law School

Yeah I appreciate the advice guys. I may have to do that, but I did get an offer of a position today. I thought the position would be for the month of June, but now they want me to do the month of July... I've got flights, hotels and plans in Vegas for the entire month of July, lol. I guess I have to take it, and I'll have to cancel my Vegas plans? I dunno what else to do.

Maybe I'll try and find something else for the month of June? But it's pretty late... ugh. They told me they can't do June because of "space considerations," but it's all writing and research... so can't I just do it from home? Blah.

Re: Law School

Just got back from exam consultation. Checked out my Charter final: there's really nothing I can do to get a single point out of 15 that I lost in order to jump up a grade, but what really pissed me off the most was that this particular prof is really gung ho about using only the number of lines provided. I did so. All of my deductions come from taking shortcuts in order to "stay in bounds" so to speak, while all his answers took more lines typewritten than the number of lines we had to answer the questions by hand. One question in particular was ridiculous: 40 lines of 10 point font to answer a question we were given 25 lines to answer.

FFFUUUUUUUU. And I wager that the people who used more space still got their answers graded, altough it was written on the exam that they would not be. Live and let die I guess.

Probably will be able to get my missing point in the other class since the prof seems to have forgotten to credit me with 3 points in an answer.

Checked out my family law exam and maybe I'm just dumb, but there was no way to know why or how you lost points or even the answers that were not satisfactory: bunch of hieroglyphs that probably represent numbers next to my answers, my grade and a big +7 for no apparent reason next to it. LOL law school.

How many of ya'll actually get your tests back?

2 years, and I've never gotten a test back, or know anyone who has.

At our school you can see them but you can't take them with you. Although for a couple classes you could take an exam out back home but had to return it within a "couple weeks" (took me like a month since I forgot but no one cared).

Re: Law School

I still haven't returned my Torts exam b/c I completely forgot about it, and I'm worried about the honor code implications if I return it now. Seems like the professor has just forgotten about it.

I think the honor code would be harder on you for keeping it.
