I remember reading this a while back and thinking it was pretty interesting but not totally surprising. But you're absolutely right, it does make you wonder about how much cheating actually goes on. Not that college is particularly difficult anyway.

I think it might be difficult for some, especially depending on how poor their schooling is prior to college. I think if they concentrated more effort in improving schools at the prior level there the fraud would lessen. But once they get to college level, many factors compound as the stakes are realized.

Seems like a good business idea with the negative if getting caught. What could they do to you though as the essay writer. I feel all of the penalty will fall on the person handing in the essay. You can claim that you are just writing for the person to use as research and that you take no responsibility for those handing in the papers.

Am I missing something?

Considering the writer is not under the jurisdiction of the college there is no issue with getting caught for him.

Not sure I buy this thing though. If the guy is really skilled enough to knock out a thesis in a subject that he doesn't know in a couple days, he should be making way way more money than high 5 figures.

Call me naive, but where else can he sell his skills for 6 figures?
