how much money does the average 20-21 year old have? how much money does the average 20-21 year old have?

This is bank accounts, assets all added up, anything you own. What's the average amount of money a 20-21 yr old have these days ? I feel like I am broke.
06-05-2007 , 05:29 PM
I'm guessing my 20 yr old friends have about 3-5k on average saved up. Some have alot more, some alot less
06-05-2007 , 05:36 PM
Lot of friends probably have around that much saved up too. So is that average?
06-05-2007 , 05:47 PM
Are you talking how much actual cash they have or what their net worth is? Most 20-21 year olds will be negative if it is the latter.

In college; in debt.

Not in college; $500-$5k
06-05-2007 , 06:03 PM
I am referring to actual cash.
06-05-2007 , 06:47 PM
I'm 21 and I made $7.3k this week.
06-05-2007 , 09:09 PM
I'm guessing in the triple digits in cash, and probably a negative overall net-worth.
06-05-2007 , 10:32 PM
okay i see. It's like most people i know have around 2K or so and i forgot about the whole overall net worth since i only think about cash.

I've got about 30k in cash in the bank and I'm getting about 5% on it right now... going to be investing most of it come Fall while still keeping it as liquid as possible (for bankroll purposes). most of my friends are close to broke though, so I have no idea

stop trying to brag, you're failing miserably.

20-21 year old poker player? Or just 20-21 year old?
06-06-2007 , 01:14 PM
i say 20-21 year old. I dont want to know 20-21 year old poker player because i am pretty sure they are much higher
06-06-2007 , 01:21 PM
I'm 20 and I have approx. $1500 in the bank, a $3K-$4K car, no debt (yet), and maybe $300 in cash

I'd say net worth of about $6K with everything
06-06-2007 , 02:34 PM
This is a terrible sample considering you are asking a bunch of poker players.

I would guess the median would be lower than this. Then again, I go to a state school, so my view might be skewed.
06-07-2007 , 05:28 AM
I would be broke if it wasnt for poker
06-07-2007 , 11:31 AM
i would say most of my friends are around $1k in net worth maybe, college student friends much lower due to loans

some friends just work back home and are worth $20K+ but have no future.

i say hey just play poker a few days a week and make much more
06-07-2007 , 12:05 PM
Hell I'm broke and I do play poker
06-07-2007 , 12:14 PM
-$200,000
where the heck do you all get that much money?
06-07-2007 , 12:34 PM
Certainly negative for any non poker people.

I lol hard when people make fun of me for playing poker, then bitch and moan that they have $20 in their wallet.

avg 20-21 year old in school, without mommy/daddy help is definitely broke and probably has no real "savings" besides their bank account.
