Biggest courseload you've done?
I'm curious what everyone's max credit load in college was and what the subject is. I'm going to attempt 21 this coming fall for accounting and I'm a bit worried but it seems quite feasible if I don't go out often and just focus solely on school.

Re: Biggest courseload you've done?
Full course load = 12 credits
Standard = 15 Credits
Max (without paying extra) = 18 credits
My biggest courseload = 26 credits
In those 26 credits included, entire 1st year foreign language, biochemistry indep. research, organic chemistry lab and a few other classes. Wanted to get everything done that semester instead of staying an additional one.

Re: Biggest courseload you've done?
15 was the standard at my place.
i did 19 or 20 a couple of times, 21 shouldn't be that much worse. 18 for an accounting major was not too atypical, and nobody ever seemed to complain. 21 should keep you busy but should be manageable, as long as you don't waste your time.

Yeah, the key is going to be staying up with everything and not wasting any time at all. If you're just going to school and not working, this shouldnt be too hard. Just treat sunday-friday or w/e you want like a full time job from 8-5 ect... treat all your classes and school work like a full time job then put in any extra work and studying as you need to. I feel like you can still have a chance to go out at least once a week if yu really need to(disregard if you don't care about going out)

Why do you want to do 21 in a semester? I agree it's doable but I'd rather take some summer or winter session classes so the fall won't be as full.

This AINEC. Summer classes are great, especially if you can get ones that last for 3 weeks or so, that way you can get the credit done without spending your whole summer in school.

Re: Biggest courseload you've done?
If school is your sole focus it shouldn't be too bad. (Meaning you don't have a job/gf/participate in extracurriculars)

Re: Biggest courseload you've done?
I once did back to back 25 credits. If you're really motivated it'll work out. I didn't keep up with all classes, instead focussed on about 2/3 of them so I didn't need to do anything for those during exam period and used that time to cram the others. All econometrics courses.

I just really want to be done with school and move on to the next chapter. I'm doing roughly the last two years of my degree from Summer'12-Summer'13. Anything over 13 credits is also free so I'm getting 8 credits on the house.
I did sign up for a few summer classes, so as of right now I have 7 credits in the summer, back to back 21s ahead of me and perhaps a May '13 class.

but (for most majors I know of) the last 2 years are where you actually learn things that you may use in your eventual profession. if you don't enjoy learning about it perhaps you won't enjoy doing it? also, college should be a time to have a lot of fun. my advice would be not to shorten it or remove the fun by packing in too much work. also also, classes alone do NOT teach you everything you need to join the working world. if absolutely nothing else, what would you talk about in your job interviews that would set you apart from anyone else?
that being said, I did a 20 credit semester which was 6 classes but only 4 of them related to my major (others were general requirements). it wasn't too bad because I still had enough time for a social life since 2 of the classes weren't too hard. I also took the required chemistry class (not related to my major) over the summer while working full time. at 4hrs per night 4 nights per week, those 6 weeks were not fun at all. literally only enough time in the day for work, class, food, and sleep. but it did save me from class at 8AM 5 days per week during the fall semester.

Re: Biggest courseload you've done?
Good Luck on attempting 21 credits this fall (hopefully your accounting courses are correlated in some way to make it easier for you). The key to success (IMO) will be to study, study, study, get exercise and get your projects done way ahead of time (if possible), so you do not run into any surprises late in the semester. If you are not motivated, please do not put yourself through this as you will not have much time for a social life. That being said, graduating can be a powerful motivation.
The most credit hours that I have ever completed in a semester is 30 (fall 2000-15 credits, + 12 CLEP & testing out of a 3 hour required writing class) while working full-time in retail as a manager (a sick version of work-life balance). Vacation hours were used to study for the CLEP test. In order to do this you have to be extremely motivated, or it will not work.
Prior to this (fall 2000), I had only completed 55 in my first 2 years and quit going to school during year 3, so this was no easy task given my previous history (playing catch-up). My Finance Degree was finished up in December of 2001. What is weird is that I made up my mind to go back to school 2 weeks before the fall semester began (got board at a party, I guess). Basically, I decided to go all-in using my day trading funds at the time to complete my Finance Degree. This was then parlayed in to a Graduate Assistant position that allowed me to complete an MBA (without paying for it with student loans).
Was it worth it? - I guess. Regardless of what you choose to do good luck!

Thanks bud,
I spoke with a couple of my teachers who are teaching some of the classes I'm registered for. I asked their opinion on the courses I'm taking and they didn't think it would be too bad. I got 2 accounting courses and a bunch of "Principles of ____________" (insert marketing, production management, etc) classes.
Sweet mother of Christ on the 30 credits though.
