We've had a couple of discussions on the idea that pretending to be confident makes you more confident. I'm generally pro, Henry is generally con (possibly nobody else cares). It's not something I've looked into a lot, but here's a Guardian article on the idea:
I was going to accuse the Guardian of plagiarism as I read that exact article in a different periodical six months ago but then I realized it is to promote a book and by the author of the book so likely appears in many places.
In a related topic I recently came across a study that correlated cortisol with male physical attractiveness. Pictures were take of men with different level of cortisol-- hey did testosterone as well but found no correlation-- and women rated the same man with high cortisol less attractive than when he was in a state of lower cortisol.
cortisol is a muscle wasting hormone. I know that from my research about steroids.

I have always felt like masturbation was harmful in some way. From a general emotional perspective I feel guilt after, anticipation which NEVER delivers, my mood shifts in down gear for the next 24--48 hours after, and i feel weaker in spirit.
everybody says its "healthy" to do it once in a while but does anyone know of any good studies that have shown otherwise from a biological/chemical level?
