Ok so here's the deal. You are different than you used to be when you were in college. You are more responsible (more likely than not), you manage time better, and you value money more. Balancing a job and school is a bit easier when you give a ****, and missing a class means throwing away some money. At eighteen you would never miss a concert you paid 50 bucks for, but going to class is a drag and hangovers can be a bitch. At 28 you will show up and study and work.
It sucks to have to think about getting out of school at an older age with a little debt (ok a fair amount of debt) but there are tons of programs, grants, loans etc that can help out a ton. Do you know what you want to go to school for? If you don't, take a test at the career center of a community college or something, it is free and can be very helpful.
FAFSA. Free money (grants)/very low interest government loans. I believe as you progress that the interest rates on these loans get lower as well. So freshman 5%, Sophmore 4%, etc. If you haven't done your taxes they need to be done before you apply. And I don't think you need to have a specific school picked out but you need to have a couple choices at least. It is not too late for this fall, especially if you start out at a community college/trade school. If you want to go to a proper college, or a university, you need to get your ass in gear.
I feel ya on the not talking to 19 year olds. Some look at you a bit strange like why the **** is this old guy in my class, but you are there to learn and get a degree. As I said I am just really friendly in real life so I have made all sorts of friends. I do have friends that are non-traditionals like myself that are not nearly as outgoing as I am. They, for the most part, are not as social with their younger classmates. Maybe I'm just immature, I don't really care.
Let me say this too. Old is an attitude, my friend, not an age. You can be mature and not be old. Do it up buddy. Feel free to PM or post if you need any help, want advice, or have more questions.
