so its not an uncommon thing for college students take adderall to do school work/study for a test...

but have anyone taken it for poker sessions???

does it help? do you feel like you make more +EV decisions? how do you deal with stuff like tilt when your on adderall? any addiction problems?

any experiences/advice would be appreciated, thanks

Unless you are making some good hourly and not taking adderall would be a lot of opportunity cost I would suggest to not.

Dosages? Taking it on and off? Personally, if your asking this question, chances are addiction is imminent. Take no offense, I love coke when I'm in the mood, though was at a point doing 2-3g a day and knew I needed to stop right away. I was addicted to Adderall XR30s for 5 years, taking 10 a day. But who knows, maybe I am just prone.

Don't forget to add Seroquel to the rotation.

it's different for everyone. it puts me in a better mood, which helps with tilt. don't think i've ever made a tilt-driven decision while on adderall. it doesn't make me better per se, but it does let me play my A game longer.

All true while under the influence of said drug. IR and XR pills make some people function a little different also. IMO this is like steroids in sports.

taking it on and off? maybe, was thinking usually when i have a downswing or something or im in desperate need to perform

I generally think it's a bad idea to combine drugs with something you do regularly. (for example, taking xanax because it helps you sleep is a dangerous path, but taking it because it makes flying not suck is probably fine.) there's a thin line between responsible and reckless and adderall by nature is one of those drugs that makes it easy to cross that line.

to answer your question, adderall would probably be a plus for your poker (especially at the start), but I would ultimately advise against it. also really depends on your level of self control. there's certain people I would never recommend any drug, with good reason.

I dont mind at all. I have always taken it sporadically. In highschool/undergrad I would take it maybe once or twice a semester. All I could get a hold of was 15-30mg XR. I got a prescription about a year ago and the DR. gave me these 15mg IR (can't remember exactly) they work fine for me, sometimes I break them in half. Still not taking them very often, have most the bottle left. I used the big stuff (XR and some other RX adderal equivalent drug I can't remember name) on Sundays when I would be grinding MTTs all day/night.

For side effects you can Google it. But for me first hand experience is they make it hard to fall asleep, sometimes my brain won't slow down and I can't stop my mind from racing, once I got really annoyed in class because people were talking and the teacher didn't care about continuing the lecture and I was in the ****ing learning zone. It raises your blood pressure which is usually not good and it's addictive, as an earlier poster eluded to.

ye iv been researching more "natural" ways to heighten my focus, but adderall will def be an option in the back of my mind

i feel like i have good self-control... if i just try it once and happen to win big or something, i won't rush to conclusions and say that adderall was the thing that made me win. it might give me a sense of direction so i can try to reach that "adderall state" naturally.

finaly found a thread which talks about adderall and poker!!

i was just diagnosed before xmas and since taking adderall i dont tilt and i am able to walk away instead of usualy staying and losing my profits.

this it has helped me have self control and focus which has been the reason for me being able to actually make a profit and not go lose it all after a bad sesion after going on tilt.

the only side effects i got was headaces when it was wearing off, and realy bad headaches which lasted all day if i didnt take it which would then make very frustrated and the little thing s people did anoyed the **** out of me.

also if u did take it start on a low dossage just to see how you react to it.
one day i decided to take an extra days supply when it was wearing off as i was playing in a live tourny and needed something and by the morning i started to feel real bad. was very close to ringing an ambulance.
