Re: 400k students in the streets of Quebec

oh and stop calling people "retarded" and "idiots." If your arguments are so weak you need to settle for calling everyone a "****ing tard," then you are better off not posting at all. I'll PM the appropriate posters with a link to this post to ensure they see it. This goes for people on both sides of the argument, of course.

Re: 400k students in the streets of Quebec

all the americans tarding up this thread

this is no different than americans (who pay very little tax compared to rest of the western world) freaking out when taxes are raised by even the smallest amount

it's not about the money, obviously. it's about drawing a line in the sand. perhaps if american students had done this 25 years ago (or whenever a $300/year increase would have been meaningful) then the country's university system wouldn't be where it is today

or if the government didnt give out free money to everyone who asked for it so they could get a philosophy degree. people are taking out loans they cant afford and going to college when they have no business doing it because the pc world has taught them they are special. newsflash, you probably arent.

no need for that. repubtards make sure taxes aren't raised because "it would be bad for the economy". the average american is dumb enough to buy that bs argument

Re: 400k students in the streets of Quebec

s"Repubtards" is very creative.

"Average" people like Hayek, Mises, Friedman... yeah. Those guys are pretty dumb, man!

Hell, if gov't spending and high taxes are good for the economy, let's just spend lots and lots of money. That multiplier will surely kick things into gear. Why stop at 1 trillion? Make it 5! 5x the economic stimulus!

Re: 400k students in the streets of Quebec

You overestimate my creativity. "repubtards" is well established just like "libtards" or "paultards", no?

Sorry, should have clarified that I was referring to taxes of top income earners aka Bush tax cuts. They are no longer justifiable. Their extra dollars sit idle somewhere in the bank (I know Friedman would argue against that) when that extra revenue could be used to maintain essential government services while at the same time reducing the budget deficit.

Nobody argues in favor of "high taxes" for the "average" person or excessive government spending.

you know that its pretty important for banks to have money deposited in accounts in order for them to loan money out to people right?

This is pretty much the Quebec way of life. They are a lazy welfare province that gets supported by the rest of Canada.

What is there to know? Quebec by exploiting weak politicians has a very socialist existence that the rest of Canada pays for -- then they still bitch and whine.

Tuition in Canada is heavily subsidized -- it doesn't actually cost $3000-5000 per student to run a university but the government pays for ~65-70% and the student is only expected to pay 30-35%. That in and of itself is already ridiculous but protesting because the government wants students to pay a negligible amount is comical.

As for being taxed that -- yes Quebec has the second highest income tax rates in Canada but that is because Quebec wants to be special and socialist. Drop all the Quebec-only social programs and the costs associated with maintaining that the province is special and your taxes would not be as high. That though is not the Quebec way -- what Quebec wants is to maintain all their BS but just have the rest of Canada pay for it.

What is even more comical about this and what Americans won't realize is that the minimum wage in QC is $9.90/hr so not only do Canadians pay a fraction of what Americans do but students have a much greater ability to earn money.

Re: 400k students in the streets of Quebec

think of how many more jobs would be available to students if they lowered the minimum wage

students should protest for that amirite
