Your tuition is absolutely dirt cheap. Pick up 2 extra shifts and ****ing pay the extra money like everyone else has to pay for everything because everything is more expensive.

Hey bro, my state college's tuition is over 5k/year and they're making the same increases!

Wow strong reading comprehension **** tard. Nowhere did he mention $300 a year, he said they were raising it by $300. Huge difference idiot.

Edit: Btw I've never even protested once and I'm for the hike to some extent. But the arguments most of you are making are completely ****** dumb and uniformed.

Re: 400k students in the streets of Quebec

How long have Quebec students been protesting this increase? Are they not one of the cheapest rates within Canada for higher education? Given that they charge so heavily to out of province civilians in accordance to what a Quebecer would pay to attend the same institution I'm trying to gauge why this became such a big deal as the monetary increase is quite small.

he said they were raising it by 300 to XXXX/yr

you said they were raising it by 325 to YYYY/yr

so your issue is with the total amount, not the tiny raise that could be made by working part time for one week

Re: 400k students in the streets of Quebec

My college tuition was 20k/year, and I considered that very cheap for the education I got.

Stop being whiny and entitled.

See guys? This is what happens when we move towards a socialist economy. Everyone expects everything, even things which are incredibly cheap, to be free on society's dime.

3800/year. Man I wish we had quality schooling available for that little money here, but then I realize what a burden this would be on the taxpayers and economy as a whole. And if it created self-entitled brats that would take to the streets over a modest increase in charges? Not worth it.

Re: 400k students in the streets of Quebec

thats the problem with the teachers and other public service union. they are used to getting such an amazingly awesome deal (cant be fired! full pension of last years salary with no contribution!) that when they are asked to make an extremely small concession (like contributing a fraction to their retirement of what the private sector does) it leads to riots.

Yes. And the sheer anger in the tone of the OP's replies really shows the kind of monster you create when you start such entitlement programs. EVERYONE should work for what I get BUT ME. I mean the increase they are asking of him and his fellow students is insignificant. The taxpayers are already bearing a MASSIVE burden to pay for their education and when they ask for a slight increase? Riots. Lots of us get criticized for using slippery slope arguments when we argue against social entitlement programs, but this is exactly the bitter pill you swallow when you do that.
