I'm playing the $400 tomorrow there at Venetian, going to check it out firsthand. I'm not a high roller so in town for the next 5/6 days staying @ MGM and playing 5 tournaments with this being the most expensive of them.

Actually, that wordsmith would be correct if following AP style.
  • Any numbers starting a sentence would be spelled out.
  • Numbers in the middle of a sentence are written in numeral fashion if they are more than 10, but spelled out if less than 10.
  • The previous rule doesn't apply to percentages. Those are always written in numeral fashion -- unless they start a sentence!

To be honest, I was not paying attention to alcohol service...I tend not to drink in tournaments but do have to keep a steady flow of water and/or caffeine.

Not playing till tomorrow but had a chance to check it out. Looks like a great setup. Tremendous logistical achievement. And tons of room to grow. I believe they plan on doing this for at least another year or two, assuming it’s successful.

They need to organize the tables better. Yesterday players, TD's and dealers were all getting lost. You'll be going down an aisle looking for your table seeing 31, 32, 55, 56... lol

Cool setup though. Service was fast, food wasn't terrible and the dealers were pretty good.

All sounds pretty good, so looking forward to donating in a couple comps when I eventually get there.

Different people feel different things, but I would say yes, it can be cool in these places. Bring some clothing to throw on.

Agreed about the table numbering. Will mention something to Tommy when I have a chance.

No. The temperature is fine. You can get by without a jacket.

You're in the desert in summertime. To counter that, these places have to blast the A/C. If you're too close to a vent, it can be quite cold. I always carry a hoodie in my bag just in case.

Yeah it was fine with shorts an T-shirt til I got moved under a vent an a light hoody took care of it .... plus I bagged for day 2 so I’m stoked

Does Venetian have a blog or website for tournament updates, chip counts, etc.?
I've searched and not found one.

Thanks

I'm legit curious what you googled that didn't find it for you. It's the second result for "Venetian blog", first result for "Venetian deepstack blog", it's linked in like half of the most recent posts on their twitter feed, etc.

I see Super Stack "1 day" events with 15k starting that go at 7:05?? When do they finish, 7 am the next day?

The $400 SuperStack is kind of like Giant in that Day 2 is a combination of survivors throughout the summer. Doesn't finish that night.

Oy, I want to avoid those then.

I had it a bit mixed up sorry. Poster above is correct that there are occasional single day SuperStacks at 7pm. The "multi Day 1" $400 is called the NightStack and is also at 7. When I was putting my schedule together I saw "$400 w/$1M guarantee" and thought WOW sounds great! Then I saw that Day 2 is in July and I can't come back then.

Okay, so with 15k starting it must run 10 or 12 hours at least, assuming a decent structure?

They have 30 minute levels, and skip some levels. No 250/500, 500/1000, 1200/2400, 2500/5000, etc. I would still imagine it is a pretty late night/early morning.

Do you know the typical turnout?

The turnout for the 400 buyin, 1M guar event has been 150-200 the first 2 flights. They need to average 325 per flight to avoid an overlay and with 3-4 flights in the week leading up to day 2, I think the later flights will be much busier.

Someone at the Venetian does a pretty good job of forecasting attendance. They often get just enough to avoid overlays.

I was asking about the 1 day events. That's what the last few posts itt are about.
