What didn't exactly help stud is the illusion that the judge's game gives that it was only for the raisins. Watched that movie again recently. So great. And it was before Matt Damon was so big as to become a bit annoying. And yes, NLH was definitely one of the featured stars of the film. That movie alone was probably responsible for me spending a hundred hours or so of my life at the Taj. That place was a borderline dump and the chips were so old, you could see through some of them. But what self-respecting poker player didn't have dreams of rolled up aces over kings or stacking checks off of dumb tourists?

Anyhow, I think you're taking a little too esoteric approach to this mixed game question. Something being popular and being good for you, or good for the intellect/soul are not the same thing. In fact, a case can be made that they are nearly universally mutually exclusive.

I am not a kid (by your definition). But I never took a liking to mixed games in the dozen or so years I have been playing poker (recreationally). It just isn't for me. That doesn't mean I look askew at those who do enjoy different variants. And I would even admit learning and/or becoming proficient in other games could possibly make me a better NLH player. I just don't think casinos have some sort of moral imperative to push the game in a direction where the money doesn't exist at this time in history. Who knows? Maybe at some point in the future when the NLH fad has truly waned, some other variant of poker will step forth and these message boards will be filled with NLH whiners. My vote is for "Indian" poker (no offense intended to any indigenous population, so relax).

In the spring seniors event, I had a great table for talk and even though I failed to last much past dinner break I enjoyed the day.

Personally I prefer Encore over the Wynn (even more so now that the poker room is there). Its not quite as stuffy as the Wynn. Both are great properties though.

An interjection; last year it looks like you paid 15% to the lower buy in's($400) while you went to 10 or 11 % for the main event and also one plo event.

One vote for 10% across the board ; as you will.

That's your opinion. The majority of players don't agree with you or the turnouts would be bigger.

See above. Most people just don't like playing them.

It's not a matter of me trying to win an argument, the numbers speak for themselves. MAYBE you guys can eventually get more players interested if you made a serious effort to get more cash games running, like 3/6 or 4/8. People aren't suddenly going to pay several hundred dollars to enter a tournament where they don't know the games.

But personally, I hate Omahaha. Too many cards. I can't stand the game and will never like it. Same with draw games like 2-7 and Badugi. There might be a lot of players out there like me that will never be converted. I have no idea.

Meh, I tried 7-stud at the Stardust circa 1980. I thought it sucked then and still sucks now. I didn't play again until hold 'em got popular in the 2000's. There was pretty much no hold 'em cash games way back when, it was just a tournament game.

When I say it "sucks" it just means I don't like playing it. If the majority of players overall don't like it either then you're going to have small fields.

Again, unpopular does not equal suck. But that doesn't mean casinos should offer more of it.

Hi Carlo, thank you for the feedback. We are finalizing our payout structure for the Summer (as well as the $250k we have coming up in April), but the 15% will only apply to the Seniors Event.

If you are in Vegas the 2017 schedule is out and you can pick-up a hard copy at Encore Poker Room.

It looks like just one non-NL Hold'em event. There is a $400 buy-in w/50k guarantee on June 7, 2017.

Senior Event is June 12 at 11:00am $600 buy-in w/100k guarantee

Running from June 2 to July 16 events start at noon, except for Seniors on 6/12.

Looking forward to this series - by far the best combination of nicest venue, competent staff, cute waitresses, great value and, for me, personal run-good of any summer series in Vegas. And this year I even get to play the seniors for the first time, although to be honest the usual turn-out for this series in much more mature than other venues in any case (which is part of the attraction for me).

Probably making two trips, but first one booked for 6/9 - 6/19 to take in one $100k, one $50k, Seniors and the $1M ($1100 buy-in). Hope I can bring home another Winner's Trophy this year :-)

The trophies arrived yesterday so we'll set one aside for you! Thanks for complimenting the room, we really appreciate the positive feedback.

But your post may have given me an idea. I feel like some sort of friendly hazing is in order for first time Seniors players

See you this summer, thanks for playing!

I haven't yet played poker in the players' lounge area where these tourneys will be held, but I would also like to compliment the new room in Encore. Its much more inviting a set-up, and I'm not even talking about the free show that occurs daily in front of Surrender and Encore Beach Club.
