Got a call from Choctaw Durant saying they overbooked and have cancel my reservations or move me to Durant.
I explained that there's a reason I book on property and double queen beds, I travel with my family.
Only thing I was told was there is nothing they could do. I always book my rooms as soon as the schedules are posted. I've book almost 2 months ago!
Supposedly have 200 people on the list they are having to call.
Yeah, I called to book a room earlier and they told me they had any type of room I wanted available. Then I told them about the poker rate and they acted really confused, told me what the rate was, but told me I would be booking it for the higher price and they couldn't guarantee the poker rate?
I then talked to the poker room and they said 'not sure what is really going on, trying to figure it out, maybe try to book tomorrow...
There has to be something goofy going on.
I made my reservations in May. No way they were "overbooked" then. I'm assuming they don't want to give the discounted rate.
They also gave me the same choices and didn't agree to any of them. Told them I would call back with my decision.

I was told it was overbooked and their VIPs coming in for a VIP poker event had preference over WPT players.
I heard of someone else this happened to also. I understand overbooking is a reality of business and keeps prices lower for everyone, but they need to be like airlines and offer fair reparations and provide some sort of compensation that exceeds the price of what was initially purchased. Otherwise, terrible move by Choctaw.

Bob I know you're just conveying the message, but how many VIPS can there be? You would think the WPT is a big draw for them. I'd hate for it to effect the turnout.

I heard from the grapevine that it affects 200+ players. Poker room manager is total "pissed" but everything is above his pay grade but he is working on the problem trying to get something done.

Tbh, I'm not sure if it's only the first weekend or the whole tournament that's overbooked.
Good news Bob Barnes and Jimmy Sommerfeld have been working on this problem and within 48 hours everyone should have their room reservations restored. But I would call hotel to verify your reservation.

It has been resolved. Sorry about the hiccup. Everyone that was cancelled will be rebooked. You should be getting a phone call. If you have not heard anything by Saturday please call to re affirm. I am sorry this confusion took place but it has been resolved. Thanks, Jimmy

Good talking to you last night I'm just glad the problem got solved as quickly as it did. Both Bob Barnes and Jimmy Sommerfeld started working to get it resolved early this morning. I recommend anyone that had their room either moved or canceled to call the hotel Friday or Saturday and to get your original room back. PS looking forward to meeting you on my next trip.
