Note that the price pool takeout is sneakily 4% rather than the usual 3% for the $400 event, making it $345.60 + $54.40.

Last page of the structure sheet: "Four percent of the prize pool will be withheld and paid as a service charge to poker staff."

Actually, the sneaky part is they spelled out "four percent", knowing that even knowledgeable and thinking players are pretty casual about scanning boilerplate rules which rarely change and are typically honing in on numbers, not words. Caveat emptor.

i dont agree with you, venetian actually takes a larger percent and the dealers are entitled to make a living. for the $550 buyin its only 3 percent. Im the last percent to argue in favor of higher juice but I really don't see your point here...please give examples of events that charge less that 4% juice on a similar buyin level

Actually, dealers are not entitled to make a living, above and beyond any minimum wage laws that may exist in the state they work in. Employment is not an entitlement in this country.

And the juice on this tournament is not 4%. The rake is 40/400, or 10%. The 4% is an additional fee that is taken out of the prizepool for tournament staff, and in my experience, this typically DOES NOT include the dealers. Also, this fee has historically been 3%. I don't really have a problem with the increase and recognize its just another example of the trend in live poker becoming more and more expensive to play. It was just a little sneaky the way they included this increased staff fee.

How is it sneaky if it is clearly written on the structure sheet? I understand if you don't like the amount taken but the were in no way sneaky about it.

When you list a tournament as 360+40 that literally should mean $360 goes to prizepool and $40 goes to the rake. When you add in tiny letters on the bottom that an additional 4% is to be withheld from the $360 then that is being sneaky. Not listing the 4% anywhere would not constitute sneakiness, that would be outright fraud.

Please tell me what poker room puts the staff fees by your $360+40? and not at the bottom?

If they all take out a staff fee then they are all sneaky. Rake should include all costs within the rake itself, just like online.

It's sneaky because rec players see 360+40 and they assume all 360 goes to prizepool and 40 goes to rake, just like online. They should list it at top as 345.60+54.40 to keep it real. Do you work for the Wynn or something? Jesus Christ.

I used to work fof the Wynn. That has nothing to do with it. Its defending a situaiton where they did nothing wrong and got called "sneaky" I also dont understand what Jesus has to do with the rake.
