WSOPC NOLA registration issues

I am at Harrahs NOLA attempti to register for tomorrows event and they are refusig to allow me to use my Total Rewards RCs (which it clearly states on their website). Also supposedly we can register through bravo but their site is not listing any WSOP events at Harrahs NOLA right now. Anyone have any thoughts? I can use cash but I didnt bring cash since it was clear I could use my RCs. I can get cash but will have to py the stupid ATM fees and at this point its more of the principle. Why should I give them money when they're clearly not abiding by the rules they have posted?

Re: WSOPC NOLA registration issues

Following up... I spoke to the Director of the casino and he spoke to Total Rewards corporate and they said that even though they have it on their website it cannot be honored because it is a third party event. I don't see how. I beloeve this to be straight up false advertising on the part of Total Rewards. Just wanted to let everyone else in the community to not beloeve what you see on their website. Liars all of them. That being said I am reconsidering playing in any further WSOP events. If they hadn't had that on their site I simply would've brought extra cash and been in.

Re: WSOPC NOLA registration issues

Which website was saying TR RC's could be used? Was that showing for the WSOP-C NOLA event or was it on the TR site?

I've raised the question about Bravo registrations in the past and been told that was only for WSOP events and not WSOP-C. Ditto the credit card payments. The excuse I was given on credit cards last year in NOLA was that the Gaming Commission didn't allow it.

Through the various Circuit events, it has been clear that a disconnect exists in some of the processes.

Thanks for the insight on the CCs. If the gaming commission doesnt allow it then I understand but they should post that information somewhere.

This is the link that clearly shows the circuit events towards the bottom of the page.

not going to disagree with you...at least they haven't had the temerity to claim that the card issuers would not allow the processing. I'm one of those who would have no objection to paying the ~3% if I could put all of my entries on cards.

That almost makes it sounds as if the TR desk should give you what amounts to a cash voucher in exchange for the credits, after which it should have been taken to and processed at the registration counter outside of the theatre. The third-party issue sounds like crap, but I could also see it being TR program rules (such as they are) being an ever-moving target and a Harrahs employee cannot come right out and say that the program changed...

Absent clarification from the TR people (which you obviously won't see in time for this event), I am not sure that I would use it as a reason to boycott WSOP events. After all, they have plenty of faults, but they don't seem to be the ones who dropped the ball here...

I think calling them a "liar" is a bit extreme. People do make mistakes and this one is easy as they copy from prior events.

This is precisely how I interpreted it as well. Glad to see I'm not the only one.

Legally speaking TR is different from WSOP, but they all fall under the Caesar's umbrella. In the end I decided since I had primarily made the trip to play that tournament then I would do so. I went to my bank that morning, withdrew cash and played. Was playing and running well till I made a big blunder in level 7. Kinda embarrassed by how I played the hand, so I won't be going over it here.

The best part is this... After busting, I made a big play on the casino. I went to check my comps at a TR kiosk. They only allowed me comps on slots, so I withdrew my entire lot of comps from my TR card (~$800 at 2:1 ratio, so ~$400). I don't normally play slots or table games so I had to figure out how the system worked, but quickly figured out that I could not just put the comp credit in and quickly cash out. Any winnings on the slots were withdrawable as cash, but not the comp credit. So I had to keep a mental running total of how much I had played and won. Did it in small increments to maximize potential profit and minimize the chance that I was playing on winnings. Now, I want to emphasize I am by no means a gambler, and it has been many years since I played any slots or table games. I pretty strictly only ever play poker in the casinos because I understand the odds of the tables games.

But this time was different. I was determined to get justice. I managed to make $320 in winnings off the slots and put $50 of that on table games till I was up by $58. The end result was I had cashed out my RCs and turned it into about $378 in cash. That's $13 over the buyin. So I ultimately I feel satisfied that I beat their misrepresentation using their own system against them.

Now of course it could have turned out differently, so I am still upset with them based on principle. Needless to say I will be cancelling the Total Rewards Visa CC I have that helped me rack up some of those RCs. I won't be giving them the chance to do this to me again, and I want to make sure I'm doing what I can to prevent the same thing from happening to someone else in the future.

I'm a web application developer, and having worked for very large corporations, I know the vetting process that their public facing sites must go through before the smallest changes are allowed to be made. The fact that it's there tells me that multiple people in the corporate organization saw it, and approved. If the policy was changed, the same process would have mandated that the change be made. This is no accident.

Also, when I first signed up for the Total Rewards Visa CC 2 years ago, that page said the same thing. I intended on racking up the points to pay for WSOP events. That was my primary goal. It is clearly misrepresentation. Call it what you will but intentional misrepresentation is lying.

Except that, at the moment, you don't know that TR has lied or misrepresented anything. It could very well be an idiot employee.

I would suggest tactfully worded letters that go to TR and to Caesars. I don't see this being an issue that the Louisiana Gaming Commission would have any jurisdiction over and thus would not include them in distribution...

I also would not cancel the Visa yet...put other cards to use, sure. But without knowing your specific credit situation, you don't want to cut off your figurative nose to spite the face. Once you have an official response from TR and Caesars, then you are better equipped to make the decision...
