WSOPc $1m Freeroll Equity Calc

Would love y'all's help pondering this one.

I don't play WSOPc much due to equity; my time is usually more valuable in cash games or elsewhere. I just luckboxed a ring at Caesars and thus have 50 points.

How many points do I need to qualify for the National Championship? I think these are last year's numbers, looks like ~75 did the trick?

http://www.wsop.com/circuit/2011-leaderboard.asp

How much is my equity in the National Championship? Considering it's a $10k no rake 100 man freezeout, with TV time, in the year that may be the 2nd poker boom.

Therefore, considering that I need one 5th place finish or better to have 75 points, what should my plan be? How hard is it worth pursuing, considering that traveling to the middle of nowhere is going to cost $ and time and equity in other endeavors?

Scoring rules

Thanks for your time and thoughts.

Last year a couple of people with 100 points didn't get in... I think you needed 102.5 (or 105) to be guaranteed in.

edit: your link is to this year's list.. as of right now 75 points gets u in...

This depends on how much money you have atm and how much free time you have. If you have a 5k roll and tons of bills Id say its not worth it. If you have a 100k roll and dont have to worry about bills etc Id say go for it.

Did someone say the WSOPC NC is airing on TV?

Also, there's the chance that the top 100 players from the past two years on the WSOP/WSOPE will be eligible to buy in for $10,000.

Is this top 100 list posted anywhere?

The WSOP World Rankings were supposed to be posted in November. Either they dropped the idea, or waiting until the NC is closer and then release the list.

In another thread, it appears the National Championship will take place during the WSOP.

Re: WSOPc $1m Freeroll Equity Calc

Last years point system was totally different. I looked into this same thing because I recently played a couple of events and made deep runs/have some points too. Unfortunately for me... school gets in the way. Anyway, there were like 30 at large qualifiers last year and more seats given away for deep runs in the main.. etc. I think everyone who FT'd a circuit ($10k regional main) got a seat into the national championship last year.

Basically, my point is that 70-80 points that was good for 66th or whatever last year didn't qualify those people for the tournaments because there were less at large births. (The scoring system has also changed I believe). My main point is that looking at last years list isn't going to be that helpful. Anyway, good luck if you go for it, I hope I've been helpful.

Do u know who OP is?

I think the qualifications have changed a bit allowing some to buy in as Kevmath stated. Of course that doesn't change the freeroll component. But I think Ari is correct that ~105 gets you in based on last years system.

Here is last year's

Only thing keeping me from going to all the rest of them is lost equity and time from home.

Is there a chance this isn't a TV event?

If I could buy in directly I would gladly. Going to be tough for me to make that list though. 102.5 is guaranteed qualification? That means some guy is going to get in with less, what's that number?

I think that it will take 70-80 points.
90 is almost an absolute lock.

Having no $10k regionals makes a huge difference.
-More at large qualifiers. Last year 36 people from $10k FTs all qualified.
-Less total points available. Last year a min cash in a $10k regional was
worth 100 points.

If you want to grind just for points I would recommend Rincon. Small fields compared to other stops. Not much else going for it down there, but if you don't mind the commute big cash games at Commerce are only 1-1.5 hours away.

Im not so sure 70-80 is a lock....i have 77.5 + gnna make a push for 120, but i have no life. Bryan, i had 100 pts last yr + jus missed, im not missing a free 10k seat again. U run good in Rincon, take the bike there, its a fantastik ride . Also, Council Bluffs is as weak as it gets . Gl ....

This seems like a good line. Just win another ring to be safe, though.

I agree very strongly with all of this. I don't want to entirely base this years "goal" on last years results (small sample bias), but under this year's system, 72.5 points would've gotten you in last year (this is done eliminating people that got points for the now non-existent $10k events). Figuring in the fact that more people are aware of the freeroll this year + there are 12 ring events per stop instead of 10 - lesser points for making a $1500 final table, I think 80 is a good number to shoot for.

- 80 will give you a very good chance to get in.
- 90 is a virtual lock.

Traveling to Rincon or Philly - where the fields will be small and good cash games are close by is probably your best move.

With no 10ks the entire qualifying criteria will change.

I hate when people don't even bother reading the thread before they reply.
