While 7500 may not be ideal, it is easy to see why someone who admits that they are not good at Stud games would whine about antes.
I've played several HORSE events where the first person did not bust out for many levels. And if you are routinely able to get to level 6,7 or 8 before you have more than a few out, it is difficult to say the stack is necessarily too short. What actually seems to kill the most people in the 7500 stack HORSE events I have entered is that they don't know when to avoid continuing in the Hold'em orbit...
And there is also the other fundamental issue of simply not entering the event if you don't like the starting stack. At WSOP time, it is not as though no other option exists for HORSE. Aria and the Nugget both had events and I believe PHo also had one. Orleans also ran some smaller mixed events but I did not get to play any of them due to my travel schedule...
