25 days before the beginning of the summer series and still no structure sheets... 25 days before the beginning of the summer series and still no structure sheets...

This message is for all TD of GN, Binions, Venetian, Rio and PH.

I know you have a lot of work to organize summer festivals, but think of people who live 10,000 miles away and try to organize their trips to come and play poker during the series. We spend a lot of time to organize and a lot of money to come and play in Vegas, and try to optimize according to the interest of the tournaments you offer, but it's very very difficult to know without the structures.

So please could you not publish them at the last minute because it is a torture for distant visitors.

At this day only WSOP, Wynn and Aria have published all their structures, it should not be impossible to do the same for all ?

For Rio, I don't talk about WSOP but dailys... And for the Venetian it's new and it doesn't appear on the blog and no information about it on Facebook or twitter, but thank you very much.

Just do what I do, and book the same period every summer.

You almost always get to be in town for a few of the smaller festival main events, and there are a bunch of other comps to play over the trip, too.

You're basing travel dates on whether the daily tournament structures (which have been the same for the last 3-4 years) are released? Aren't they the same every day?

Incorrect:

http://www.rainbowspuppiessunshine.c...is.php#compare

That's just compares the 3 that have released their structures this year compared to the same tournaments last year (Venetian will be up tomorrow). I can get you a spreadsheet of 2016 compared to 2015 if you like--there were changes there as well.

With that said, there's not really enough time to book airfare based on tournament structures. The casinos just don't release/finalize them in time.

Rio dailies have changed in the past 3-4 years? I don't see them listed on your link.

That link compares 2016 to 2017. As the point of this entire thread--RIO hasn't released 2017 daily structures. They will be included when released.

Sorry. Looking over this thread, I think you are specifically talking about Rio dailies and I am talking about dailies in general.

You're probably right about Rio dailies not changing. I just remember last year Binion's and/or the Nugget had a daily NLH at noon and it signficantly got worse from their 2015 offering. That link I gave was to show that exact same tournaments do in fact have their structures change from year to year.

Several of the changes on your year-to-year comparison appear to be error. There is no difference between 2016 and 2017 on the 5k 6-max and 1500 6-max WSOP structures. There's also no difference in the $1k Turbo (the comparison of this year's Event 65 to 2016's Top-Up Turbo is incorrect, that was a different event). Should be comparing 2016's Event 58 to 2017's Event 65, and there's no difference. I also don't see any difference in the structure in the $1k PLO (2017 #25 vs. 2016 #19).

Thanks for reviewing my data. I fixed both the 6 handed tournament comparisons (2016 was wrong). I fixed the PLO (2017 was wrong).

As for the turbo, I put a footnote at the bottom which indicated what I considered a match---same limit, same game, same cost, same casino, similar notes. I removed that record completely.

Thanks again, and if you notice anything else let me know.

Very disappointed by the structures of the Binions (http://www.binions.com/gaming/poker_tournaments.php) For example, the structure of the NLHE Championship is much less interesting than last year when it is much more expensive ($565->$850).

I hope the Golden Nugget will not disappoint me as well.

minor update on the wsop daily deepstack structures - evidently they are not the same as 2016.

Yes the structure is the same. I find it comical that they increased the fee for each daily deepstack by $3

In 2016
$235 --> 1000-1500 (sometimes 1800+)
$135 --> 150-200 (sometimes 250+)
$185 --> 250-350 (sometimes 500+)
$365 --> 100-150 (sometimes 180+)

The don't run on days when there are huge fields in other events.

why does the largest buy in event have the shortest levels? That seems kind of odd

It just fulfills a different kind of market need. Last year they called it a Turbo, this year they use the phrase "accelerated format." There's a market for turbos. The $235 Daily produces giant fields and $35k-50k to 1st place, but you have to grind for 8-9 hours just to hit a min-cash, then the tourney runs another 7 hours after the money. The $365 is faster, higher variance, more of a gamble, but it doesn't take as much time. Only takes about 7-8 hours start to finish. It's not intended to be a great structure, and not really competing against the better-structured tourneys in the $300-400 range at PH, Aria, Wynn. You probably wouldn't want to play it if you were just in town to play 3 or 4 tourneys in that buy-in range. It's more of an impulse buy for people who are in the Rio and want the action.

Here are the results for last year if you want to take a look. If you really want to dig in for year-over-year comparison, check the day of the week and look back at what the marquee event was that weekend last year. Also, keep in mind that the start times were reversed on the $365 and $135 last year. The $135 was the 7pm start and the $365 began at 9pm, but this year it's vice-versa. Don't quote me, but I think that will make for larger $365 fields this year than last year.
